My hope is that the rumors are true and VW will kill the Panamera (and Cayenne) at the end of its current life cycle.

If that happens, and I don't think it will, then its time for me to look for a new job.  The Cayenne makes up half the cars we sell and service.  The Panamera will open up a huge new market for us, I think most of our allotment for 2010 has been pre sold already.  Porsche is a car manufacturer and they will build what sells.

There should always be a market for the 911 as long as they leave the engine in the rear and don't change the profile that has been with us since the mid '60s.

Dolph       :)

I think the 911 is a dated design and would be a much better car if they made it a mid engine.  They would have to lose the rear seats if you can call them that but they could keep the same profile.  In my opinion the Cayman is a much better driving car and Porsche would win more races if they had a mid engine GT3 type car.

Screw it for the money the newer corvettes give you the most bang for your buck. All of the ferrari's are a pain to drive around town.  The Vette is comfy and then the claws come out when you stomp on the gas. And much much cheaper.

Wanted: Friends!!! - m4mm - 32 (marina / cow hollow)

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/stp/1358334612.html

Just moved back to the best neighborhood in the world, the MARINA, and am looking to meet some new friends with whom I can HANG. I appreciate the finer things in life….. think:

Gucci loafers
Paper Denim (though sometimes I'll drop Seven Jeans on some fools)
Ralph Lauren Black Label
Sea Smoke
Chicken Paillard
2/20
Toro
Mercedes S-Class all day. Valet only.

What I am looking for is people to drink with me during the week. I like hanging out at Balboa Cafe (I have my own table, and the servers know me by name), and sometimes by the fire at Matrix. I will pay for all the drinks and lamb pops with my Platinum. I just need some friends to hang out with and listen to me. I mostly like to talk about myself and my possessions, but will occasionally be willing to let you talk, but usually only if you talke about me, or how cool I am.

Exactly. GORGEOUS car, but yes, much more expensive than a regular Cayman S. The one I saw in person I think was $90K!!

Isn't the Porsche Panamera destined to be sold in China?  IIRC, Porsche is viewing the Panamera as a key to a foothold in the Chinese luxury car market.  That's likely why they chose to debut it at the Shanghai motor show last spring.

The high-performing Panamera isn't going to 'devalue' the Porsche brand.  And as Ducaholic (correctly) noted, the Cayenne is a popular vehicle.  The profits from this relatively high-volume SUV help pay for the development of the flagship Porsche sports cars.  I think the Panamera is going to be a strong seller for Porsche, and I hope its profits hlep fund the development of the next generations of 911, Cayman/Boxster, and also pay for Porsche's racing efforts.

Ducati is a good analogy - profits from the high-volume Monster subsidize the development costs of the lower-volume Ducati supersport bikes like the 848 + 1198.

Meh. Chop the top a bit. The windows are a little out of proportion with the rest of the car.  I love Dino's, 360's & F40/F50's. Most of Ferrari designs are really nice, but only a few really do it for me.  Mechanically they rock obviously, I would never turn down a Ferrari that some one wanted to give me - even the 400.

Meh.  Cancelled my order today (like I had one placed to begin with  [roll]).

The stupid car is saddled with one of those flappy-paddle gear boxes.  Nevermind.

Very true.
