What a coincidence. I just had all four pulled yesterday morning. All of them impacted so I got knocked out for the procedure. Mouth was frozen for a long while after but no real pain. Tylenol 3's were the only thing given to me and so far they're doing the trick. Can't chew too much but I can stand to lose a few pounds.  ;D

I had one taken out, no big deal... I feel like I got lucky- I remember a guy in boot camp that got some taken out, looked like someone kicked his ass with a 2x4

My local anesthetic ran out partway through the procedure.  Although they tried to inject me with more, it had lost its effectiveness on me (I could even feel the needle). 

At that point they still had 2 teeth to drill out so they just did it as quickly as they could. :-X
P., that must have hurt like hell !

I had to have a Crown this past Spring and the Novocaine shots made me just about cry.

Shoving that needle down into my jaw it felt like it was an ice pick being pushed into my jaw.

When it was over my face was so numb it felt like my lower jaw was on my chest.

I had the Dentist get me some Vicodin since he had ground half my tooth away so I could get some relief.

Over simplified lay explanation of bony impacted wisdom tooth extraction compared to wisdom tooth extraction:

They have to break your jaw to get your tooth out.  It hurts a lot more for longer.

oh shit, they didn't have to do that to me.  it was just sitting on the jaw bone and they split and yanked it out and sutured.  i think there must be degrees of "bony impaction" cause my jaw was fine when i left!

You didn't have to have them drilled out?  Mine were all drilled.

A couple of mine had to be sliced in half to be removed. The worst part is the sound of the snapping and cracking and the wet feeling you eventually realize is the profuse bleeding from the remaining chasm where the tooth once was.
