Is there a Ducati specific wave?
«
on:
September 16, 2009, 09:16:51 AM »
I recently acquired a '96 M900 which I am really enjoying. The other day I was riding and a guy going the other way on a standard of some kind (couldn't tell the make) "waved" at me with a fist. He didn't shake it just held it up like he was saying "solidarity" or something. I've never had anyone give me a fist before; 5 fingers, 1 finger salute, peace sign yes, but never a fist. So I was wondering if there is a super seceret squirell Ducati wave. . .and is it a fist?
Do tell.

You have to remove both hands from the bars and quickly simulate the Desmo valvetrain while screaming the Italian national anthem.
Ok, just kidding. No secret wave that I know of and certain people just feel like waving in different ways. I've done the following:
Nod (couldn't remove any hands)
Foot stuck out (see ^^^)
Peace sign (my fave as riding for me is really relaxing and peaceful)
Thumbsup (usually reserved for a nice bike)
Full hand open wave (no particular reason)
In my 15+ years in the saddle, I'm just glad people wave at all. If they do anything funny or odd I just figure that's how they roll.

Yeah, kinda. It's sometimes nice to have exclusivity. . .and to recognize and appreciate the tastes of others. I have a Suzuki VStrom & there is kind of a secret wave w/ those so I thought maybe the fist guy was doing his thing.

Great! Now I'm going to be worried about my wave
I just raise a hand, drop a hand, point, wave , foot stuck out...
I don't ever pay attention to what the other guy does.
Wait, not true. I had a guy fly past me on the freeway out in the middle of BFE one day & shot me the bird. So I returned the favor by reminding him that if your gonna pass a 1098s & do that you better be going very fast (on what I don't know).
So, I rolled up beside him and blew the asshole a kiss.
Qfactor, You posted while I was. Was that you?

I get that alot from the ladies.
Unfortunately I don't think it's for L-twin though...

It's like I keep saying: Those who would sacrifice a free range session for a giant beer, deserve neither free range time nor a giant beer.

i have had guys reach back and grab my crotch in an attempt to get around me. i'll either blow in their ear or ask them politely to let go of my wang.

That would be kinda awkward. . .unless it's an "L" towards you and a backwards L to the other guy.

Wasn't there a list of hand signs on TOB for different messages (like 'cops', 'danger' etc.)

Favorite convo i read on this board
"PICS OR IT DIDNT HAPPEN"
"F**K U IT HAPPENED"
Suzuki Blvd M109R " Sliver " = assassinated by cager
PW 696 " Pearl " = traded in
M1100 " Loki " = Viking God of mischief ( Goddess in this case )
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a pretty pristine body, but rather to come in sliding sideways all used up screaming F*CK YEAH WHAT A RDIE!!

Late July, just before the entire country goes on vacation. Did you get the memo?!?
