Thought i was going nuts for the past 3-4 weeks, ive been feeling something wrong with my front end.

Turns out my rim has a section on both the left and right side, wher the lip has shifted to hte left of hte bike about 1mm. I was spinning m ywheel and saw some kind of deflection, didnt notice it too much, but when i put my hand on the edge of the wheel and spun it, bam both sides were divated. ( not the lip, but the part right before the lip begins)

Im not sure when this happened, but i am VERY positive that it was caused by that freaking ridge on the south bound FDR drive near the 28th st ramp on the inside lane, its about 1/4 way into a left turn...  ive had to slow down from 70mph on the highway to 30 just to go over it and it doenst help that i pass by it 2x everyday. I have not called 311 about it. When i did call about the first time my rim got dinged they fixed it about 3 months later.

I had a bent lip (same rim) and howie linked me to a form that i could submit to get it "reimbursed". I never got around to since i needed to have someone look at it, and seeing how i only have liability, im not sure what shop i need to bring it to, or if they will charge me just to sign a form that says its bent.

Can I just bring it to a local motorcycle shop? And pay them to take a look at it? Whats hte likelyhood that the city will deny the claim? I dont care if they pay to get it fixed or whatever...but i would be happy with new ones.... Cheesy

All I sent them was a document to prove the incident took place at that location at that time (tow bill) and the repair bill.  If you have your wheel fixed it would be a good idea to take photos and write down the runout readings.  What you ran over is more like a speed bump.  The trick is brake and release the brakes just before the "ridge".

My wheel doesnt warrant a tow...but i can make it look like that. However it would be very awkard to just pull over and go my wheels bent 1mm all of a sudden. Is there any other way i can claim it? Ive got 2 other dings on the lip of the rim that i know was caused by the first time i hit that blackhole near the williamsburg bridge.

Id call it a Speed bump x 10.

The worst that can happen is they reject your claim.  Go for it!

Steves rims

They are cheap and have done 2 rims for me.  You need to deliver the rim and tire. Gotta take it off the bike and remove discs.
