foot peg lowering kit opinions? *installation w/ pics*

Has anybody used these on an S2R 1k? Anything good or bad to say about them? Anything similar out there? I don't want to pay for full-on rearsets but could definitely use more legroom @ 6'3".

Those are on my maybe list, I'm 6'4".
Mostly happy customers, but some can't get used to the fact that they put the pegs a bit further out/wider than stock.
Otherwise a good product from what I've heard.

They have been discussed at the old board and here. Search for MFW or MFW-Wolf and/or Vario.
US distributor is EuroTechMotorSports and my vendor of choice is MonsterParts.

If you get them, please update here. There are quite a few riders who need them, tall and/or with bad knees.

The big concern when you lower anything on the bike (or the bike itself) is going to be clearance.  And the Monster doesnt have a lot to begin with.  I've already scraped pegs on the street (off camber turn) with the stock peg setting

WOW!! Great find! have been thinking about buying rearsets, but my gf would be pretty pissed if I took of the passenger pegs. I'm 6'3 and really need more room!

A word of caution when using these. They are solid mount and have no "give". If you touch down with these or any non-moving peg, it can act as a pivot point and lift the bike causing loss of traction if leaned over far enough. Solid mount pegs are generally reserved for track use where the applications have higher initial mounting points and greater leaner angles. On the street I wouldn't use em, but that's just my .02 worth of experience...

I use the MFW that StopinTime refers to.  These mount up perfectly fine with the spring so mine move just as the stockers do.

He is also correct about the shift lever position.  I'm still on the fence about whether I like it or will deal with it.  For my size 10 foot it's a stretch to get there.  The new position (back and down 30cm) is exactly what I'd thought it'd be and does solve my issue.

As far as clearance goes my bike has a raised rear so even the new position is better than stock at stock height.  The nice thing about these is there are 8 positions you could use, including raising them for track use.

If I decide the lever position is too much of a hassle keep your eyes peeled or shoot me a PM since I'll put them up in the classifieds here.

They also come with the option of a ball and socket joint at the root of the peg (makes them even wider though). ....in addition to the movement COWBOY is mentioning.

So I got the MFW-Wolf ones from Monsterparts but they don't fit.  :(  I did specify the year and model of my bike. I would have to remove more material than I would be comfortable with to make them work. Hopefully they just sent me the wrong ones. They look like good quality. I think they will be a good addition to the bike once I get the right adapter. Since it was brought up, they DO appear to be engineered to fold up but I did not get that far with the assembly to say for sure.

The part # for the adapter should be 051 03 03 00 as far as I know. Is that what you got?

Have the adapters exchanged and it should work out.

I spoke with Jeff today and he is sending a new set with different part numbers.  [thumbsup] Apparently the manufacturer has some conflicting part numbers on their website.

That's correct. I spoke to the manufacturer half a year ago. They told me a corrected list was soon to be published, but I guess they are too busy [roll]
The US distributor AND Jeff has had the right understanding before - just not your lucky day I suppose.

MFW-Wolf also told me they would release matching pegs for S*R passenger sets as well. During spring this year. I have no idea if this has happened yet.

GTA --  I picked up a used pair of the MFWs from another board member and really like them so far.  Pretty much eliminated the knee pain i was experiencing, and no clearance issues thus far.  Did a decently hard ride in the canyons today and no problems (I was much more comfortable and I think that helped my riding considerably.)  All in all, I'd say they're a very good product.  Good luck with yours when they get delivered!

Just had an idea - maybe it's a bad one - bend the gear shift lever out to make it easier to reach.
Someone I know very well dropped his bike and ended up bending it inwards, but it wasn't broken - could "work" outwards as well?
