It sucks. Can I just keep my '83 KZ1000R Lawson Replica and my '05 ZRX1200R and call it even. Wait... even my ass... no way! You'd have to sneak up on that bike at night it's so ugly!!! Ugh!!! What were they thinking?? Must be the same folks that designed the new V-Max!! bang head

Just before I sold my monster and picked up the VFR, I dropped by one of our local kawi dealerships.  They had one of the white Z1000's sitting on the floor for an amazing deal.  I love streetfighters.  But I still think I could pick up a lightly crashed superbike and build my own.  If superbikes weigh around 400lbs, why do naked superbikes always have to weigh so much more (Obviously Monsters and Duc Streetfighters are excluded).  I told the salesman, take the fairing off of that ZX10, detune slightly for more torque (Don't neuter it) and I'd buy that.  They have everything already in place to build a more brutal Brutale, but are always too conservative to do so.

I've been quite pleased with my VFR.  It is completely rational, comfortable, relatively fast, and sounds great. [moto]  I now need a MAD bike. Evil Evil  Something totaly irrational.  I may build a streetfighter if I can find a good donor for a great price.  I may even build a high strung supermoto.  You can get just about anything licensed here in KY, so a motocrosser isn't out of the question.  Of course the easy route may be a superbike...

Point is, the Z1000 is soooo close, but not a candidate.  Its looks still don't talk to me.  Undecided

Resurrecting this old thread because I'm curious if anyone has ridden the new Z? Aside from the horrible exhaust, it looks like a real ripper. The reviews are absolutely glowing.

No, but I saw one parked out back of the SF D-store a couple weeks ago. The rider was inside and I didn't know what it was, but now I do.

The bike won't work unless you buy this special riding suit to interface with the bike.

When I worked at a bike shop several years ago, if I recall correctly, a stock Z1000 pulled 117 on the dyno, and an Arata full  pipe and PC pulled 128.   The new one is stronger.   I'd put up with the look, for those beans.

Power
155hp (114kw) @ 9500rpm

Torque
85lb-ft 115Nm @ 9500rpm

Less insect like.

I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to get more power & torque out of it.

If you ride one, you'll like it.  They're a blast on my local mountain roads.  They've got nice mid torque, plenty of top end speed too.

The new Z1000 actually got great reviews, MCN (yeah, I know) said it was amazing. Comparing it to the SF is a little unfair I think. It's nearly double the price. I think looks are important and definitely prefer the SF to the Z but I'd be putting my money on an M1100 or a HM before either bike. If you're all about the looks then it's a completely subjective decision. Kinda depends on where your priorities are and how much cash you have.

Knobbies on an HM?  Oh, the trouble I could find...
