Any interest here? Who do you like?

Rockies-Phils
Twins-Yankees
Cardinals-Dodgers
Angels-Red Sox

I'm still trying to recover from that final season game last night.  [clap] [bow_down]
Woohoohoohoo! Two personal records! For breath holding and number of sharks shot in the face.

I'm stoked that my Twins pulled out the win against Detroit last night!  Not sure if they're strong enough to pull out some wins against the Yanks, but I'm really happy with how well they played late in the season.  Despite losing Morneau to injury, they've gone 17-4 in their last 21 games!   :o  [thumbsup]

Go Twins!

Phils, Yanks and it looks like the Dodgers.

I don't think the Twins have enough pitching to hold off the Yankees.

Agreed.  Should still be a fun series to watch, though.

It will be interesting to see if Wainwright can bring the Cards even with the Dodgers.
Who is pitching for Philadelphia in the 2nd game?
Angels-Red Sox could be the most entertaining series.

Yet another year without a Clevleland Indians v. Chicago Cubs world series.

Great Twins/Tigers game.  Always easier to watch those type of games with no rooting interest.

Yankee baseball is back!  It must be October if The Captain is performing his heroics!!!!

2009 696 Monster, CF Termi's, Hindsight LS CRG's, (yes that's it, have a lot of catching up to you guys...)

As a life-long Yankee fan (and that's a long time!), I have a better feeling about this group than I have had for years. They look primed to make a run.

For all the detractors who complain about the Yankee payroll, a few points:

- spending money in baseball is no guarantee of winning. There are lots of examples of this, including the Yankiees themselves.

- small-market teams have done well despite not spending the big bucks. Twins are a prime example.

- as a Yankee fan, I look at it this way: The Yankees make the most money and they should be spending the most money. Whatever you think of the organization, under the Steinbrenners', they have always spent money in an attempt to win. Not always wisely, I should add.

Contrast: A few years back, the Brewers, then controlled by Selig's daughter, received $40 million in luxury tax money. They spend none of it on personnel, but distributed it among the partners.

Baseball is a funny, unpredicable game, which is why we like it. Mariano Rivera breaks Luis Gonzales' bat with a devasting inside pitch, and it ends up as the game-winning hit.

Go figure...

I used to be anti-salary cap, but watching more competitive hockey makes me like caps. Baseball's payroll is wacky.

nicrosato

Yes, it is. And it's skewed to giving the large market teams an advantage. The luxury tax doesn't really even things out.

The NFL has had revenue-sharing as long as I can remember. Of course, a national TV contract simplifies it. And the salary cap, so a player gets essentially the same money playi8ng for the Packers or for the Giants.

The NBA has what, a contract that guarantees a percentage of gross revenues goes to the players.

Baseball is very wacky this way.

I feel for the Twins. They had that game. I think that may have taken the wind out of their sails. make the beast with two backsing Yankees.  >:(

Even the umpires are Yankees fans! Can't get better than that, right? [roll]

With calls like that, the Yankees are certain to win this series.
