Insurance is legalized extortion. That said, I like my knee caps so I pay it. Begrudgingly.

never heard that one.

i've never been in an at-fault accident, but when my brand new volvo was totalled about 10 years ago by a stupid college girl yapping on her cel phone (and decided to make a 90 deg right turn on the jersey turnpike) i was sure glad she had insurance.   granted, i had uninsured motorist, so i would have been covered, but the cost of my $40,000 car was on her ass otherwise, and try squeezing money out of someone when you need it cause they trashed your 3-month old car.

i'd say it's worth it.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

I'm waiting on the Ducati public option.

i fell out of my chair laughing when i read this.

Geico is based out of Montgomery Co Maryland (AKA The Peoples Republic of Montgomery County Maryland) I will not use them because of a stunt the pulled locally.
The donated “Ladar” speed guns to the local and State police. Normally I would be ok with such a gesture; But the reasons behind the donation were not very cool with me. If the donation was in the name of public safety, that would have been fine. Geico had other plans though. The reason for the donation was that with a much more reliable and accurate seed gun in the hands of the police the conviction rate would rise. With more speeding conviction they would now have a reason to raise rates across the whole State. Rates jumped up 40% in some areas. This was not ok with me. I left them and went to progressive. I soon dropped them as well. I'm now with State Farm and all is well.

seed gun? sounds dirty.

I'm with state farm. They sweet talk me before they bend me over, so I stay with them.

i too am with SF.

I find insurance to be much like television providers. you more or less have to have it, and no matter which way you turn, there's somebody waiting to rape you.

I currently 'enjoy' getting bent over by state farm, and by at&t u-verse. you might even call it consensual.

I haven't found a company where i was overjoyed to be their client thus far, and don't think such a thing exists.

I have state minimum liability on my 86 Honda CMX250 and it costs $16/yr. That's not a typo. I rarely ride the thing, but it's not street legal unless I carry insurance.

When I added my '79 KZ400 to my policy I got money back (multi-bike discount).

Oh, and we also got a bit of money back for moving to the middle of the twisties. ;D

I just heard back from my agent that American Family will not reclassify the bike back to standard despite me taking pictures of my bike as well as passing along pictures of the stock bike. So just to clarify, this

is now equal to this

I had always thought about getting a superbike but didn't know I had one all along. sweet!

I'll be calling around to a couple insurers this week to get something rolling. This policy expires 10/29 and my house policy on 10/28 so not much time to waste.

State Farm  $256/yr.

Hey KB, NM rates are quite a bit higher than CO. We also have one of the higher uninsured rates in the US. That is what drives our prices up here. My auto policy went up $25 a month when I moved here, and I'm in a better zip code here than I was in CO.

Boomer, I'd say it's time to start shopping it.

Damn, I was lovin' my price.  I had half that coverage with the same deductable, at $138. but figured what the hell, it's cheap, so I bumped it up.

Now I want to see what people are paying for this bike in Colo. The only thing less would be the Insurance co. paying you.

Maybe I'm reading your post wrong.
I promise to make better mistakes tomorrow.

Nope, you read it right. I was surprised and asked the gal on the phone when she told me my new rates. She said NM has higher rates across the board mostly because of higher un-insured rates. I've also noticed that typically areas with higher per capita earnings are going to have lower comparable rates.
