You can get 24 carat gold plating  kit's as well not that expensive

I was nearly going to use gold on mine.

I know what your saying for the belt covers open look good but not very practical For a daily ride bike.

They give you instrution booklet but a little vague read it about 20 time you'll be right and you can call him which i have done

They supply the electrolyte in powder form for a 4 litre kit.
i just went to Cole's and bought 4 litre bottles of distilled water to mix it up and a few 3/4 liter containers with vacuum sealing lids.

And you need some heat source the chip fryers are the best i had an old one.

Just get the nickel kit.

Tip polished the bolts or anything round in my pistol drill  just put em in the chuck spin them up and polish the surface with emery cloth and Brillo pads before plating.
and after plating samething but use a soft cloth and metal polish, autosole or similar

The kits contain the chemical in crystal form to mix to make the required electrolyte. The brighteners are also supplied for each chemical. Anodes are supplied for each type of plating, be it nickel, zinc, or copper. A thermometer is supplied in the nickel kit, or dual kits. Pipes are supplied which are used as hanging bars for the jobs. Nickel wire is supplied to hang anodes on, and copper wire for hanging plating work on.
A bench top transformer is included to supply current at 1.5 AMPS, with adjustable voltage. Larger power supplies are available if required. A bridge wire is included to bridge copper pipes together if required. A book is included in the kits complete with instructions and tips. I am always available for back up help if required.

Hydrocloric acid removes the old plate, plus a 12v battery speeds it up.
But the how to manual is what you really need
Makes it easy a lot to learn even though it is simple it's all the little tricks.

You will need the anodes and electrolyte
the power supply needs to be around 12v/ 6volts variable  for small stuff .they are available from jaycar will get the part no later for you.But no cheaper than jankits
kenco degreaser for the parts before plating works they must be spotless or it goes patchy.even finger marks will stuff you up.
AS IS SAID ITS ALL THE TRICKS

But for $160 for the nickle kit not worth stuffing around.

I went with stainless on most of my bike, but not only did I polish the bolts I rounded the heads and got rid of any knurling.
I do it with the pistol drill at home, I have a buff for my bench grinder as well..  that was a good investment...
but if I have heaps to do I'll do it at work on the lathe. The rounded heads seem to catch the light better...
