Anyone else thinking that UFC has jumped the shark..especially after last weekend's fights.

I was thinking that but then I realized..they did the day they brought Lesnar in.

I'm just happy the freakshow is over; that was pretty pathetic. And while I hate Lesnar with a passion, he does get the win, even if it is by Gorilla Smash.

I can't wait until Cain beats him. I hope.

That fight was a joke. If I was Dana, I would have placed that fight in the undercard. I finding it really hard to convince myself to pay $40 for these cards. I prefer watching the undercard for free and then if I hear something interesting happened, watch it on the web.

So Lesnar took Caarwin's best shots and then choked him out with a slick ass submission and it was a win by Gorilla Smash?  If Carwin can't beat him no way Cain can.  Carwin thought he was going to get g'n'p but instead Lesnar passed and had the choke in deep quick.  I listen to Rogan's podcast and he was talking about Lesnar and the heavyweight division and how it's pretty much over if Lesnar has learned good submissions.  Lesnar is not Kongo- Cain can't take too many of his shots like he did in that fight.

This week's ppv sucked balls.  I wish Diaz would learn how to finish fights.  That should have been over in the second. Looks like Edgar is the real deal and maybe Penn has had enough.

Not even going to comment on Tony. Bullshit.

Carlos- I'm starting to swing that way too.  Even though it's usually only 5 bucks for me (watch them with friends) I'm tired of getting all pumped up and Dana not delivering.  Seems like only the heavy and light heavy title fights are good.

Lesnar smash with penis chest!!!!!

To tell you the truth, last season's TUF fights were way more interesting than any of the PPV fights I've seen recently. They were much better match ups. The problem is that the champs in most divisions simply are much better than their competitors. The lightweights have the most talent, but they are beating each other before even coming close to a title match. The lightheavyweights are also looking much better. Every other division can't field a decent fight to save their lifes.

Bascially they should stop this BS of having a PPV fight every month. They're getting greedy. If you have a PPV every other month and possibly a few free on Spike thrown in there, you should be able to field an awesome PPV with multiple title matches.

I totally agree with you.  They've flooded the market and now I'm losing interest fast.  One every other month would be perfect.

I guess we have TUF which starts this month to look forward to.

God I hate agreeing with you ;)

I love the fights at TUF bit I can't stand all the make the beast with two backsing drama. All these grown ass men acting like 13 year olds, no thanks.

Blackout

I think they've done a good job at trimming most of the drama bullshit out of TUF. More about the fighting and training.

The drama is more due to having them live in a house with no TV or any other diversion. Fighters are generally not that bright and they are very agressive. If you would simply add a Playstation or Xbox or even a PC they would be more relaxed, but too boring for TV. Ifit was up to me, I would simply show what happens in the gym.

I started watching because I wanted to see what drills they did at the gym. We-re lucky if we get 5 mins of gym footage an episode instead of some D-bag talking about how he doesn't give a shit what people think about him and how he had a rough upbringing. Idiots.

TUF has most assuredly jumped the shark... same formula, same stories, same ol' same ol'... I'll DVR it and FF all the talking heads and only watch the training and fighting, but sometimes there's less than three minutes of training and fighting in an hour show.  Not worth it.

UFC itself has not jumped the shark.  It has suffered some poor events lately, but has also turned in some exciting performances.  It has also begun to face some scrutiny for things that make for bad viewing - poor judging, rules that encourage dull fights (lay'n'pray, wrestler-friendly ground rules) and the length of time between title defenses for champs.  It's guilty of keeping around some aging stars too long to try to increase buys... but so is every other professional sport.  The hype often exceeds the value of the product... but then again, that's also usually true of the Super Bowl.

I don't see the UFC as in trouble, but I think it can be improved.  Figure out how to encourage finishes.  Consistent judging. Rules that are less wrestler-centric.  Consistent, recurring fight programming (that isn't the reality show).  Women's divisions.  Arianni Celeste giving me a backrub.

Not sure how you can encourage finishes, but I do agree with the other point. Judges mostly come from the boxing commission that is very corrupt. You need judges that have been in the business. Also some training, basically watching different fights and teach them how to analyze them. Tell the refs to stand the guys up if they're laying there. They do that already but they usually wait for half the round to pass by before they do. Same when they are up against the cage.

The women's division is tough because there simply isn't that much world class talent out there to be had. What I would do is setup a system to attract talent from the boxing and kickboxing leagues and train them in the sport of MMA. Build it from the bottom up.

I think a yellow card system tied into the fighter's purses would work just fine. It did wonders for Pride. I miss that org, all the best fights took place in it

The only thing I don't miss is the psychopathic announcer with the shrillest voice known to man. He/she/it scares the shit out of me.

On that note, I'm really looking forward to Palhares forcibly removing Nate's leg. Pearson should put on a pretty good show as well, regardless, just about anything will be better than the last card.
