Not a fan of the Dark848.  Too much black-ness and not enough contrast between colors.  I still lust after the pearl-white 848 though...

i agree with stu, the dark i guess is great if you are going to use the bike as a track bike less to change out, but other than that its a bit cheaper for entry, but really the bikes look a lot better in the metallic black or the white or red.. they need to bring back the yellow sbk.

the hayden thing with the capt america theme was a bit goofy but that is just my opinion. each to their own.  i think its tough for the companies to design  a tasteful r/w/b theme with stars and stripes on it without it looking like some cheezy over the top thing that you would see on a tshirt sold by a corner vender for $5 in nyc.

I find it disturbing that you're imagining me in a sauna, never mind the teletubbie aspect of it

I don't like the flat black and I'm attracted to shinny things, but this could be a blank canvas upon which one's creativity could find expression.  Of course there is always the problems of runs and orange peal.

ok let me be the first to say it then...
let the Ducati gods hear...
give us the 848 SL in yellow with a lightweight mono-subframe, magnesium rims and carbonfiber bodywork- ohlins all around. keep it priced no higher than the 1198 base model.
go ahead and make a limited number that way... let them be snapped up for huge amount more from the dealers... then release the ohlins-less model with non-carbon fiber body for a bit less as a standard model in the lineup.

hmm i like the idea of a lighter weight midweight of the 848 in yellow, great concept.

but i see them haveing a heck of a hard time for doing it for what only 3-4$ more.  i think the wheels and ohlins would easily eat up the 4k righ thtere and we haven't even gotten to the lighter mono subframe redesign or possible carbon bodywork or slipper clutch option which would be nice for a super pimped out model.

For me...  If I wanted an 848 blank-canvas, I'd just buy a used one or a lightly rashed one for many thousands $ less than the asking price of this 848D.

That's cool too.  But I want a matte black one, so this is perfect for me!  Grin

I still find myself drooling over mine after 2 years of owning it.

I'm sure for those looking to scoop up an 848 the dark is quite tempting since for the price difference to the gloss you can use that money for some great mods or several trackdays.  I hope I'm done modding this soon so I can get another bike.
