I just finished shopping for my Thanksgiving dinner and was curious what everyone else is planning?

I'm going non-traditional this year

Oyster Soup
Mac & Cheese
Roast Duck w/ Chard
Layered Pumpkin pudding.

Fried Turkey (one side injected with that asian / garlic hot sauce with the dragon on the label and the other a olive oil/garlic mixture).

That is my brother's and my task. Oh yeah, drinking beer while cooking.

The wive's will be handling the rest of the menu.

I heard a rumor of cheesey twice baked potatoes.  yummmmy

Anyone tried the Maine Root Pumpkin Pie Soda? Its AMAZING!!! How can a beverage without alcohol taste this good?

On the other hand, T-day is the official splurge on a case of Dogfishhead Punkin Ale  ;D

Is that a menu?

j/k I plan on baking all the requisite pies and whatnot!

I was thinking a case of Goose Island seasonals before dealing with the family, a case of Sam Adams winter favorites while dealing with them and then a case of Great Lakes something or other to help me forget about those make the beast with two backstards for another year.

[laugh] Wow, there are a lot of alcoholics around here. I'm in good company.

For the hooch, I'll probably stick with some wine for dinner, some beer at the bar while watching the evening football game and some Absinthe or Scotch for a nightcap.

For your sake I hope those rumors are true.  Twice baked potatoes rule!

I'm doing the frozen pizza and bottle of Bacardi.

The first "Thanksgiving" meal didn't include pumpkin pie, or even any bread because of a shortage on flour. However, it did include a lot of sea food -- clams, oysters, lobsters, etc.

So, to go along with the traditional turkey, stuffing, cranberries, pumpkin pie, etc., I am going to go old-school and cook clams, oysters, and mussels in my dutch oven. I have a great recipe for it that I've eaten before, but never cooked myself. So, it'll be a fun Thanksgiving experiment.

Not sure what we're doing. We'll be in NYC for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Either we'll be going to a restaurant or ordering in from someplace like Whole Foods.

Whole turkey stuffed with fresh herbs and garlic and citrus, then slow-smoked over apple wood (takes about 1hr/lb to smoke, but OMG).
Pan gravy.
Spicy sausage stuffing.
Pecan-pumpkin pie with fresh whipped cream.
Cheesy garlic smashed taters.
Herb salad with dried cranberries, fresh mozzarella, and creamy balsamic vinaigrette.

Arrogant Bastard ale
an Oregon Pinot Noir

...and watch the last few sessions of 2009 MotoGP.

Similar menu here, except it will be Jameson instead of Bacardi, and I'm picking up a pumpkin pie from a local bakery (best pumpkin pies on the planet).

I solve my problems like an adult, at the strip club drinking on a work night.

Supposed to go see GF's family in MA, but decided to stay home because we are both just getting over the flu.  Going to a friend's for an orphan feast.  I will be frying the turkey and supplying 2 apple and 2 pumpkin pies that I will make tomorrow.
