I can't believe it stayed running that long.

Nice.

When working at the dealership saw a Subaru get to 75K until it blew.  Pretty Impressive.

Quick!
Throw some Pennzoil Platinum in that engine, and it will remove up to 46% of the sludge in the first 1k miles!

If that engine still runs, that is.

Anyone have a link to the actual story, and not just the photos?
I'd love to read the brilliance of the owner of that car to defend driving it like that.

what a dumbass.

amazing to see it still runs.. but I'm willing to bet its got damage and isn't going to last long...

they need to pull the oil pan and inspect (also remove the sludge from there) I bet there is metal in the pan.

I've replaced 1.8t's, all burned up on 30k mile oil changes. but they are turbo and run pretty hot. I make it a point to tell them $5k buys a lot of oil changes or one engine.  ;D

If it were me and I opened that valve cover, I would just go ahead and get him a estimate to replace the engine.. not worth my time to clean it out, then 5k miles later it eats a main bearing any way..

The owner should have noticed something wasn't quite right....  30,000 MILES AGO!
