In preparation for a winter tear down.  I read this on another forum and thought I'd give it a try.
$60 in 3/4 plywood and a few cuts.

Finished product

with top off

to aid in assembly I used bar soap

I could have built a bench but then it would take up room in the garage when not in use.  This box breaks down to 2'x8'x about 4".

I made 2 brackets out of 1"x48" steel.  Mounted them to my ceiling and everything hangs up nice.

I can take everything down and together in about ten minutes.  This will do for now until a lift comes my way.

I'll get a pic with the bike on it in a few days.

Won't you need the lift to get the bike up on the box?  ;D

Seriously, how do you get it up there?

bike ramp...  I have one for my trailer.

One could also use a piece of 2x8 lumber or similar

Very interesting,i'd like to see how it works. [thumbsup]

Isn't your finished product picture missing a few holes for tiedowns? I remember there being a spot for tie downs to hold the bike up in that design. I guess you could bolt a chock onto there instead too, though.

is the top board going to be nailed down or will it just sit there?

a 1x cleat at the front and I put drywall screws (2) at the rear just to be on the safe side.

I had no idea this was a derby!!  [roll]

Good work!  I made the same one (see other post).  I added two side platforms with 2x4s that slide in.

Love the soap idea!!!!
If you love your bike, set it free.
If it comes back to you, you've
probably high-sided.

So Chas...

What time can I expect you at my house next Saturday to help me build one?  ;D

a member on NEDOC built this one above.  Roll it on and use a jack to lift it. He built it without the wheel chock. As would I. To get a bike onthe one I built needs 2 people to safely do it

Interesting. I think I could actually make that from the picture's he's put up. Looks like it's pretty much just the pipes holding it up. The 2x6s in the middle are the height adjusters and only 1 engages at a time depending on what height you want it.

At first I thought it was a metal stand since he painted it grey. Spiffy.
