T-Rex vs pitbull stands

so kind of a thread jack, but I have a T-Rex rear and it has been more than fine.

My bike is away for the winter and has been up on the stand for about a month (rear but not front).  Is there any reason i should not do this?  The Bike is more stable this way and I have it tucked away in the back pf my garage.

Just curious?

no problem at all, as long as you move it a little for the front tire so it doesn't get a flatspot.

or just buy a cheap front stand.

As stated, I bought some POS cheap one from Iron Pony and with 5$ of new parts, it is rock solid.

I changed out my starter on this stand and entering my second winter with it stored on this stand with no issues.

Thanks.  Every once and a while i spin the front wheel a quarter turn...very scientific.

yup, that's all you need, but i would not do it 1/4th turn as you'll end up putting it on the same spot, just turn it 3-4 inches each time with a little fudge factor (where's the "anal" emoticon?)

Has anyone had front fork seals go bad from having the bike up on a rear stand only for an extended period? I know that there are a lot of people who say not to load the front shock for an extended period during shipping and wonder if you can end up with the same result on a rear stand only if it is up on it for months at a time.

The reason I ask: Either one of my front oil seals gave out on my 06 S2R around the same time the bike was up on its stand due to my broken foot, or it happened as a result of being up on the stand.

Ideas?

i have a garage.

i meant i just ride my bike everyday. so far the lowest actual temp ive taken it to is 15 degrees. average 20. waiting for that day its single digit outside (not feels like) so i can try my gear.

ugh.

i would not want to ride when the ground is frozen considering the shit that gets dumped on the streets there.  you hit ice, it could be anything.. water, trash, sewage..

yea, i ride pretty slow in the winter. but if you stay in them middle lane, your pretty safe though. on the FDR, trucks arent allowed, and most cars dont leak anything that will freeze on the road. so its not any different. on the city streets though, you have to be careful, but its not that big of a deal.

remmeber, i have no car, and i aint paying $2.25 to go 50 blocks. and i dont take hte train enough to justify an unlimited so whatever.

and, based on this friday, I'll either not need that pin or not because the other claims adjuster for the other guy is going to make a decision to approve or deny my claim. So either ill be forking over some cha ching for a pitbull SBK front stand....and sell this one.... [evil] the monster is 100% going, ive decided the bike is bad juju. it needs to go.

Since we are talking Pitbull vs. other stands, I thought I would throw this in.  I have 3 Pitbull stands, one SSS for my S2R, one standard rear for my other bike, and a front triple stand that works on both bikes with different pins. I am a big fan of the Pitbulls, they are solid as a rock and I use them constantly. On the front stand however, I noticed that it was NOT wide enough to use with my front axel sliders unless I made a modification to it.  Pictures below:

thats the new front stand that is triple tree only right? it seems cool, but the one that works with the forks and triple adapter seems to be the best value. Although if you were swapping forks, it doenst allow enough room to remove the front pinch bolts, but i guess yo ucan do that before you lift the bike.

I have pit bull stands for all my bikes and have never had any trouble with them.  When compared with the price of a bike, the stands are relatively inexpensive IMHO.
