Request - Chart comparsion between original and Termignoni exhausts on M696
«

January 20, 2010, 11:46:49 PM »
Hi,
does anyone know where can I find some graphical comparsion of Termignoni and original exhaust silencers mounted on Monster 696? I wanna see the difference and the improvement of mounting Termignoni silencer in power or torque vs. rpm
Does it make sense to mount them? Does it improve anything more than sound?
I tried to find these information on the forum but I were not successful so I have started a new topic to ask this...
Thanks in advance for all your replies

try doing a search for "696 & Dyno" or "official 696 Exhaust thread". Both have a lot of info. You should be able to find dyno traces for both stock & termi's. Bigest advantage to Termi's is the ECU, which fixes the fueling map (stock is set up to make the bike compliant with EURO3 emissions) & raises the fuel cut-off to 10,500rpm.
I'll add a quote from one of the posters here (Spidey):
"Termis sound like God's having an orgasm. Housepets explode into flame. Women collapse in ecstasy. Children bleed out of their ears. Grown men sob hysterically. Cops flee for their lives."
IMHO, I'd say it makes a big difference. I've got CF Termi's myself, on my 696 Dark.
Couple of threads to check out as well:

I'd love to know the answer to your questions myself. I asked at my dealership and they said the Termi's would add one or two hp to the 696.

I've been trying to find the same thing and gave up. It seems no one wants to post a before and after dyno run it could be that the DP ECU can not be tuned it comes with 2 maps and thats it. Why Ducati would sell a preformance part that is so limited I can't figure out they also make it impossible to add a power commander or any other tuning device
I would have bought the Termi's and ECU but there's no way in hell I will support Ducati and the lame DP that can't be adjusted. Maybe that's why dyno info is so hard to come by I mean why bother with a dyno run when you can't do anything to improve the mapping your stuck. So I bought some Leo Vince slip ons for 600 bucks and am waiting for PC or some to figure out a tuning box to re-map the stock ECU which will prolly run about 350 bucks plus an air filter and a few dyno runs I'll be spending as much as the DP kit but at least I'll be able to tune the bike.
Good Luck

lots of options out there to include a remap available (company in Italy). the DP ECU has a single map and is 'tuned' for the optimal condition of the K&N filter with open pipes. the new bikes apparently keep the O2 sensor which can be a bonus. and the PC V will be out this spring.

Hi Guys,
after reading all your posts (thanks a lot for all of them) it seems it is all about the ECU. Just to add open air filter (K&N or whatever similar) and open pipes of any manufacturer. It is not so important to have Termignoni on it, right? And to cooperate with all this stuff - the racing ECU. So the ECU seems to be the holy grail to power up the monster...
Can the ECU be bought separately, only the ECU not the complete kit? What´s the price?
More to analyse this...to mod the ECU. The hardware for both stock and racing ECU is definitely the same. So the only thing which differs is the software. The software can be reflashed. The problem could be to get the modified (racing) software and flash it to the ECU (which should be much smaller problem than to get the software)
What do you think about my conclusions?

I think that there are a few guys over here in the states that do exactly that... reflash stock ECU's

The Termi, filter, exhaust and ECU package is much less expensive than buying the parts piecemeal.

I think it would be a problem because I am not neither the United States nor even the continent of North America but from the centre of Europe, Czech Republic...

Check this thread. I posted my Dyno chart, and a few posts down, you'll see a stock 696. Note that for some reason the guy who ran my test only ran it up to 8500, while the new ecu limits at higher at 10500. I think she would have posted higher numbers if she was run to the limit.

You will never get much of a power increase to the 696 with out internal engine mods. With the DP ECU,air filter & pipes your only gonna get about 2-4 HP increase (depending on the dyno) is what I've heard but I haven't seen before & after dyno runs. It seems all the slip ons are built alike so you won't find any diff between them except looks. Re-flashing the software will only change your stock ECU to the DP ECU map I think it cost around $400 to have it done and you still can't tune your bike. So for me I am going to wait for the aftermarket part that will allow full re-mapping of the stock ECU.

It can be bought separately, but it costs upwards of $1000 for the ECU(almost as much as the complete system). Ducati and Termignoni are in bed together. They have an arrangement where Termingnoni gets to exclusively sell their exhaust along with the new ECU. In order to boost Termingnoni's sales, the make the new ECU cost an arm and a leg so people purchase their "package" rather than buy a separate exhaust system and then a seperate new ecu.
I am not sure if the termingnoni system is better than any other out there, I dont think it is.... What makes it better is that it comes with the ECU which solves the lean problem and boots the RPM's...
