is it definitely a Darmah?  It just looks like any old squarecase to me.  not much left to figure a darmah from..

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the air—these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

You are quite right.  According to the article only the engine and most of the original frame are left over.  It's pretty much a total custom job.

the forks look original, hard to miss those 38mm tubes, but the swingarm looks like it's from a Pantah, wheels, brakes, etc..

i wonder what the electrics are?  the original nippodenso setup was SHIT.

no idea on the tank.  the exhaust looks amazing, i would love to do that on my bike.

This bike nearly caused a divorce.

I saw it on Ebay 2 years ago!  I have a 10-bike limit.  Wifey said I can have another if I sell one.  I promised to SELL TWO and she wouldn't budge and let me pull the trigger on it.  I slept in the doghouse for a few nights.  I went up to NY and checked it out even, I desperately wanted it.  WANT.  I got the name of the buyer and he is a good guy.  Maybe someday:

Ducatiz, I admired that Guzzi from a distance.

Here is the latest bike from the Wrenchmonkees (http://www.wrenchmonkees.com/monkee20.html)

it's nice, but it's been done.  750SS converted to a cafe racer w bump seat.  they should have done something more with the exhaust, they just used slipons and the stock header.  i like the change in look with the headlite, but it looks like just a monster up front.  forks are cool too.  also move the oil cooler to under the frame to reduce the effect.
