OK, I'ma gonna say it...

The best clutch mod you can do to a wet clutch Duc is to sell the bike and use the cash for a Ducati with a dry clutch.

If you choose right, you might even have extra $$ for some [beer]

or change to dry clutch ;)

i'm getting sick of the anti 696 shit, really. Did the 695 guys go through all this? I'm starting to feel like i'm part of "that other ducati group"

HUH?

The 696 wasn't even mentioned in this thread.

There has always been a schism between wet and dry clutch owners...

with the wet clutch guys being envious. ;D

yeah yeah, his comment was sell your wet clutch (696) and buy a dry clutch.

its more off this topic, but everyone has hated on the 696 from the start

initially since it was a new bike, it was ugly,

then everyone loved the 1100, and hated on the 696 since it didn't have a SSS and Wet Clutch

its just been constant...

Has nothing to do with the 696.

You really need to thicken your skin.

My comment was actually just directed to your clutch  -- personally, a wet clutch for a Ducati is a deal breaker, and I don't care if it's a 696, or an old 750, or what ever.   I was going to buy a SportClassic but changed my mind because of the wet clutch.

As for what I think about the 696 and how it looks....

yeah, I really like my Hypermotard.  I think it complements my '96 Monster really well because it's somewhat familiar but still a bit different...

DucatiTorrey

why didn't you buy an older sport classic with the single shock and a dry clutch?

when those bikes were out, I wasn't quite in the market for a new Duc because I was still hoping to land a new Norton, but when I saw the Streetfighter last year, I decided I want a new bike and wound up with a Hypermotard (which I woound up preferring over the Streetfighter)

I didn't really want to buy a used bike, specially not with the price that I was able to get the new HM.

even though that hint of blue on your clutch plate is perfect on your bike.

for me the wet clutch was what sealed the deal ..i like the slipper

i was really used to riding a 2 stroke ...and after a few years with the Gixxer and the adventure of not matching the revs right every time ...the slipper was the ticket for me

i tend to ride aggressively and like to hammer the downshifts

but that being said i do have dry clutch envy ..it does sound soooooo right on a Duc

so my perfect setup a dry slipper ...yea when i win the lottery
