...and battery life.

My Dell Netbook's battery life is pretty damn good.

I am sure its going to shine in the apps department. I can see this being a pretty cool gaming platform.
I currently dont own a tablet and I love my Iphone so I can see myself picking one of these up.

Would you consider the iPhone a "cool gaming platform"? From a game developer's perspective, the iPhone is a crappy platform not because of the hardware or the software, but because it is next to impossible to differentiate your quality $5-10 game from the tens of thousands of crappy, derivative or just ripped off games. I was really hopeful about the platform but unless Apple can change the way that the App Store works, don't expect anything really innovative as it is just too much of a gamble to develop for that platform.

There will be a few big games from the major players, but almost every real game developer that I am know is getting crushed in the iPhone space.

I don't understand why you would buy this for reading books.

How about a Kindle or Nook?

They are cheaper and specifically designed for reading books with a killer battery life.

Now......I can see Statler's justification as it would work very well for his job.

IPad being backlit, I am not sure how pleasant experience it would be for reading books without straining your eyes.  That  is my issue with it and see the Kindle DX better for ebooks.  I am curious to see it in person see if the books have some adjustment that may make it easy on the eyes.

(Camera would have been nice and I am sure multitask will come along in due time)
620M 2004 Dark i.e.; ~ 57K miles (all me);  Looking to swap out engine now.

Rather than cut and paste the HTML from my first thoughts on the subject, I'll just point to my pre-formatted iPad musings here:

In particular, I found a Gizmodo article that mentions Jef Raskin, and which was written prior to the iPad announcement, especially illuminating.

Well Put

I can think of a few idea's off the top of my head for things you can do with the Ipad that you can not do on a netbook, laptop, ebook reader etc.

How about art applications like painting programs or think about the music implementations such as making a cool DJ Turn table with it or a mixer?

Call me crazy but since I bought the Iphone which is the only apple product I own so I am no Fan Boy. I have been always telling myself... you know a bigger version of the iphone would be kick ass. I may be drinking the coolaid.

You know my GPS just died. If I had a data plan enable Ipad I would simply be using that right now. There are going to be countless applications that are going to make the ipad a very enjoyable device. Niche yes... But very enjoyable  [thumbsup]

apple should have kept it in development for another year, at least until the could come up with a better name for it.

What do you mean GPS Receiver?

What model BB do you have?

Maybe I am confused by your post, but my old 8310 had GPS and my Bold 9000 has it too.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.
