What happened to the M695?

Hi, i am a new owner of a new to me M695 or ducatis in general. I guess I didn't do enough research, but i guess the model was short lived. Can anyone point me to what the reason for its short production life was?

Also, related to the above, few of the online stores, if any, seem to carry any 695 parts or mods anymore. Am i limited to only finding used parts for the bike then? Is there a favorite retailer or online store for 695 parts out there?

I was hoping to add just some simple protective devices (frame sliders?) for this bike and browse for some others, but am having a hard time locating anything for this particular bike.

Thanks for any insights!

I find lots of stuff for my M695 on monsterparts.com, rizoma website, ducati omaha and ducati seattle website, desmotimes website.
I'm not sure why they only made it for two years.  A lot of the stuff from any monsters previous to 2009 will fit the 695.

Maratom

Lots of, maybe even all, parts that fits the 620 will fit your 695.
Other people here on this forum can probably give you some more info.
By the way, congrats on the bike.

The majority of parts that will fit a dual sided swing arm monster will fit another. Not all, but a whole lot. Exhausts slip-ons, rearsets, bars etc.

Why so short a run? I don't really know. But, the 695 wasn't particularly unique - as noted, it's almost identical to the 620.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

It was essentially the big bore kit equipped 620. It was short lived only because of the unveiling of the 696. It was an improvement of the 620 and a bit of a stop-gap before the newer small displacement Ducati came out.

Its life isn't so short when compared to the 600 or the 620 Monsters.

BK_856er

I bought a ton of stuff for my M695 over the past few years.  I can't really think of anything that was M695 specific, except maybe the termi kit.  As mentioned above, lots of items cross with related models.  The M695 is a seriously fun monster!

the 695 is a great bike when you upgrade the suspension and brakes, as the stock ones really suck. About the only thing I have left to do to mine is get the ECU reflashed, although at some point I'll probably get the shock rebuilt. As it is now, it handles great, stops and with the SIL/NCR titanium exhaust, sounds wonderful. Here's mine, S4 forks, 748 brakes and an ST2 shock really changed this bike for the better...

El Matador

Yup, like everyone else said,  anything that will fit a 620 will fit the 695.

I loved my 695 and still ride it all the time (ended up selling it to the GF  ;))

It is an extremely capable bike, even 2up. I modified mine pretty extensively. Let me find you a pic:

+1 on monsterparts.com...
On mine I have the DP Racing ECU and Air Filter, Rizoma Upper Triple Clamp with clip-ons, Rizoma Grips, CRG Levers, bar-end mirrors, seat cowl, bellypan, Marvin Racing high-mount exhaust, Cycle Cat Rearsets, LightWerkes integrated taillight, Oberon Mini LED Turn Signals, , and I still haven't installed the CF Shorty rear hugger, CF 916 front fender, plus a bunch of billet pieces from Corsair Industries.  And I'm waiting on a new set of wheels...
I also lowered the headlight, removed emissions can, painted the wheels...there's a million things you can buy and mods you can do to the 695!

...and I still need to buy a windscreen, better looking side-panels and belt covers, and maybe sliders...

...plus rumor has it that "El Matador" is making/finished? with a killer seat cowl!  ;D

Tell me more of this mystical seat cowl that exists only in fables and mythologies.  I heard it possess magical power that heals dislocated shoulders upon contact with the injured.

The forks are powdercoated or painted? Looks great.

I haven't done anything to my 695 in terms of the suspension, but I do agree it is the only thing that is not so good about the bike.
All sorts of chopping and messing around.  No major mods on mine yet.
SSS, new suspension and big bore kit are in the future.

The 695 and 696 a bore and stroke of 88 x 57.2mm, compared to a bore and stroke of 80 x 61.5 mm for the 620.  So the 695 has a larger bore and stroke compared to the 620.  The 695 & 696 actually have the same bore as the 803 engine.
