Whatever you do, don't smoke a HeMan O' War. It'll burn your house down with your motorcycle in it. Somehow, your mother-in-law will make out with you.

Totally thought thats what it said first time I read it......threw up in my mouth more than a little bit.

Finally get home from work and I wanna dive into my freshly delivered Perdomo Champagnes, and it starts to rain.  Think that's stopping me?  Hell no, where's my umbrella?

So.. this thread really got my interest for cigars going. Just about to order a humidor and thought i might ask if any of you have a Adorini humidor and what you belive about them.

This is the one im looking at http://www.humidordiscount.com/Humidors_Adorini/Venezia_grande__Deluxe.html

But i belive i will buy another humidifier than the one that's delivered with the humidor,  http://www.heartfeltindustries.com/products.asp?cat=70%25+Rh+Humidity+Beads

Have your say!  :)

I'm a big fan of Onyx and CAO.  As for the subject of Cuban cigars, they suck.  My family is from Cuba but even Castro hasn't smoked Cuban cigars since the 70's.  They over farmed the soil so now its nutrient deficient and the tobacco tastes like crap.  I believe Dominicans are the way to go now.  The islands were made from the same type of volcanic discharge and have very similar soil makeup, except that the Dominicans haven't depleted their soils.

As for Cuban coffee, see if your local grocery store sells Pilon coffee/expresso.  Cafe con Leche, or Cuban coffee, is simply a little expresso, milk, and lots of sugar (at least that's how my grandma made it).

I totally agree with you, I have been to Cuba and from what I can conclude is most of the cigar manufactures/family's left Cuba and the 2ND rate guys came in like scrubs, so most of the cigars produced in Dominican republic, Nicaragua and Honduras are now equal too or better then Cuban cigars

oh yeah +1 for pedron and perdomo

Looks good, remember to use distilled water when you're preparing it.  The humidifiers and meters that come with them generally are not very good, it does pay to replace those as you are planning on doing.

Also, Overstock.com is surprisingly a good source for cigar accoutrement.  I got this humidor through them:

True, a lot of family's and rollers left Cuba.  I'm a fan of Graycliff cigars, and their master roller is Avelino Lara, who created Cohiba and rolled for Castro.

I didn't know that about the soil of Cuba.  I can't say I enjoy a particular region over another, as I smoke sticks from Dominican Republic, Honduras, Nicaragua, and the Bahamas, but I find they all have the potential to be of very high quality if done right.

Is it not like wine? your taste and perception of whats good or bad is highly individual? I'm new to this and absolutely no aficionado, but i guess what applies to wine is pretty much adaptable to cigars?

Really good looking humidor you got there!

I'm trying to do my homework here, some people say that 65% humidity is to prefer to 70%. Could it be better to have a higher humidity 70% if you have a high (warm) average temperature compared to us in Sweden, or I'm i totally off here? Idea being that it would evaporate less in a colder climate? :)

Totally, I think of cigars along very similar lines as wine.

And thanks, also haven't heard of the higher humidity idea for a colder climate.  I'd say that would hurt a cigar far less than drying it out.  I know it's usually best to try to maintain a 70/70 ratio (humiidity/degrees F) in your hummidor; easier said than done sometimes, but that may very well differ dependent on region (like baking times/temps in the mountains).  I know mine is humming around 73 on the dial.

Well I'm not hard to persuade so i was hooked when i read the subject  [laugh]

Humidor on it's way, now i got to decide which cigars to order.
Tried to find the Perdomo Cyrus recommended, no luck tough finding a retailer here in Europe. So instead I'm thinking of ordering this robusto sample pack of 10 cigars http://www.cigarone.com/cuban-cigars/kit.php?idkit=10
