Anybody listen to rockabilly? I dig certain "country" styles of music. "Country & Western" and Top 40 Pop Country can pretty well make the beast with two backs off (though they have their moments). I like Hank III and Robert Earl Keen. I like blue grass and the Delta Blues and such. And I really dig rockabilly type stuff when I hear it.

Any suggestions on the rockabilly front? Mystery Gang. Skip rats. What else? What about more modern harder edged type stuff?

Bobspapa,

If Buck Owens is mentioned in this thread I will punch you square in the dick.

Fair warning given.

Maybe not exactly rockabilly, but I used to really dig Southern Culture on the Skids.

Memphis Rockabilly Band -- very original style, but lots of "digression" if you will.

El Vez, Dimestore Heroes..

Kings of Nuthin are sort of rockabilly, maybe more punk R&B

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

If you dig Hank the III, you'll most likely dig Wayne Hancock.  Robert Gordon, Old Tiger Army (the newest release sucks balz I think), Mike Ness (Social D front man) has a couple of awesome CD's, Rev. Horton Heat (best show live...ever!), Rezurex, Nekromantics,  Mad Sin, Horrorpops...that should get you started if you want Rockabilly.  [thumbsup]

Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar kicked me out of the band..... they said I didnt fit the image they were trying to project.

So I went solo.  -Me

The Reverend Horton Heat.

Specifically, listen to Galaxy 500 and It's Martini Time.

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.
