The 690 is perfect for urban commute and a bit of canyon curving!!! so so light!!! i ride my 690 more than my duc, but in no way close to getting rid of the Monster  ;D

I have a damn good time on my 625smc.  Not the greatest pics of my ride but I was easily able to keep up with my buddy on his RC51 through the tight stuff.  When the roads opened up (60+ through the turns) he was able to stretch out the bigger bike. My choice over the S4 in the mountains honestly.

Now I really want a supermoto. I shouldnt have read this thread.  [bang]
Bikes I've jumped and/or crashed:
84 Kawasaki KDX 80 - Bike i learned to ride on when I was young(er)
84 Kawasaki KDX 200 - First naked bike. crashed so frequently the plastics wouldnt stay on.
99 KTM 620 - If you could even get the thing kick started in the first place...
02 Yamaha Zuma - not a motorcycle but still crashed and jumped it way too many times.
04 Harley Road King Classic - Awesome story behind this
06 Ducati S2R 1000 - neither.... yet.

Monsterlover

KTM 950 SM-R owner here.

I love this bike.

At 50 mph or less it handles like a dirt bike and I ride it that way.

Over 50 I hang off sportbike style and it loves it.

Tons of power, killer radial brakes and I can go 100 miles on a tank no problem.

It also travels well. Pic with the rear rack, side bags and Givi top case. This is after a 600 mile return trip from dimby.

A buddy of mine has a Husky 510 and he likes it. He blew up a fork seal going down a set of steps [evil]

More maintenance intensive than Ducatis I think.

Pretty much sums up the Super Duke as well.

Unfortunately, the SD does not tour quite that well.  It's got longer legs, but no real way to get luggage on it.

What's the difference between the SMR and the superduke?

Maintenance like a ducati or not as bad?

Monsterlover

Pretty much everythings different. Completely different bikes.

Not as maintenance intensive as Ducatis are though :)

Except for the SD makes you just as dumberer as the SMR probably does.  ;)

It still wants to be ridden like a dirk bike more than anything.

Triple J

Not a true super moto, but I have a 2010 KTM SMT...basically the 990 SM + more comfy seat, bags, larger tank, and better wind/weather protection.

Probably the best bike I've ever owned. Light and super fun around town...but still does very well on the highway and longer trips. I rode it 2,100 miles round trip from Seattle to the Miller SBK races, included nice twisties as well as boring slab. We did 640 and 620 miles on 2 of the days. It handled it all with no complaints from me at all...excellent bike!

Leaving Seattle on a lovely Spring Day  :P

Both of us re-fueling in Spray, OR (fantastic roads near here). This was the beginning of our 640 mile day.
