Picked up a 2010 Audi A3 for the wife.  Was trying to find a good forum to get some "tunning" info. Fun little car so far but starting thinking about getting a little more out of it already! [evil]

Anyone have an Audi and know of a good forum or two?

2.0T?

I have Revo software (I'm a revo dealer)

I have a 2009 a3q with the 2.0t, its AWESOME. stg1 revo software is 50 more HP and 90ft/lbs more torque. its a huge difference to say the least. I took it to the drag strip last summer, stock mode 16.05 with launch control, flashed 15.6 with out LC and LC+ software ran 15.01. this was at 5600ft altitude, I was running abotu .2 faster then a new STI that was there.

I really suggest the revo software, though others aren't bad either. I think APR pushes the hardware a bit too far though.

Soon, I will be upgrading to a S3 turbo (ko4) with intake/ exhaust/ down pipe and S3 intercooler I should be around 360 hp. not even touching the fuel system. I've also got S3 front brakes and will be ordering H&R suspension (touring cup kit) for it as well.

congrats on the car, I love mine. I almost never drive it, almost a year old and only 6k miles.

as far as forums go, check out http://www.fourtitude.com/index.html

Good choice [thumbsup]  Is it a manual or a DSG ???

Checkout vwvortex.com...... look in the 2.0T technical forum..... you can read for days [laugh]

GIAC software is awesome..... Jeff Moss @ torque factory in West LA can flash that ECU in minutes & add a ton of Tq & HP too [thumbsup]

When can I drive it ???

Have been on audi forums for about 10 years.

www.audiworld.com is the way to go.

Sadly the original Audiworld was destroyed in a near identical manner as the VS takeover of DML. Quattroworld was founded by former members using the original forum format of Audiworld.

Thanks for all the info! [thumbsup]

I got her the base A3 with the auto DSG tranny.  It is a really fun car to drive (from the dealership to the house so far.) but you all know how the mod bug goes. The front wheel drive is a little different coming out of the 328i.

Do any of you know if the chip/ecu mods will have any affect on the warranty?

You can have the car flashed to Audi TT specs (265 HP) through a dealer and maintain warranty.  Any other computer reprogram leads into a gray area.  Law requires the manufacturer to prove your modification caused the failure.  Truth is they have experts and lawyers on staff, you don't.

what?

no you can't

first, the TTS is a different engine, its the old FSI motor with different injectors and a larger turbo, the new one is the TSI and has a much better fuel system. the new fuel system is why its so easy to make more power.

Get it flashed by REVO and buy a SPS, with the SPS you can turn the vehicle to stock mode so when you take it into the dealer they will not be able to detect the software. they can't void the warranty if they don't know its modified.

Trolled a few sites listed here!  I totally geeked out for about two hours! [clap]

I'll break her in (the car not my wife) and see how I feel about all this when I take it in for the 5k service.  See if the service dept. does any of this funny business. The car has a ton of torque as is and 200hp isn't shabby. Might be more interested in some suspension stuff (sway bar and some new coils to lower it a smidgen).

I didn't get to read anything about engines/trannys exploding with the stage one ECU remaps.  Any thoughts on this? A 25% gain in HP seems like it might put some undo stress on the mechanicals.

I would break it in first, at least 2k miles.

I've had mine flashed for about 4k miles now with no problems. I had my 1.8t GTI flashed for 45k miles with zero problems.

VW/Audi may have problems with window regs and sunroof clips but they make a hell of a engine and the DSG's are holding up just fine to power, the diesels seem to kill the mechatronics units though.. probably from all the rattling.

you can learn about your engine here

besides, if something does blow up, and you have your revo SPS, you can just turn the software off before taking it in. [thumbsup]

trust me, there is NO WAY they can tell if you have software with it off.

GregP,

The 2.0T TSI engine is a great Tuner base. My husband has a 2007 GTI with the 2.0T; he has made a variety of performance modifications that have significantly increased its performance (without sending us to the poor house). He says that the VWVortex is a good online resource as is Golfmkv dot com with a lot of good information there on the 2.0T engine.

For software performance upgrades he suggested you checkout APR at goapr dot com. Similar to Revo, they offer an ECU Flash performance upgrade. Three different stages are available. Stage 1 will give you and boost to 254 HP and 297 TQ on the stock engine and removes the 130 MPH limiter (check your tires). For Stage 2 & 3  additional mechanical upgrades are required (many of which are available from APR). APR is a great Company, with great Customer support. Depending on your location, having your car Flashed at a local Audi/VW event will save you money. APR typically has an annual nation-wide sale on their products in July as part of their sponsoring the Waterfest Audi/VW Show here in Englishtown, NJ.

For other performance enhancing products, he recommends you checkout BSH at bshspeedshop dot com. These folks manufacture several great performance products for the 2.0T including Intakes, Intercoolers, PCV, DV Relocation Kits and more. This is another great Company, with great Customer support.

Best wishes to you with the A3.
