I have been searching for anyone who has done this to a 696/1100 but can't seem to find a single one. I don't mind the new style headlight but at the same time I am interested in seeing how these options might look.

Check out the different options on this site:

Ducati SF style

They even offer a universal install kit for the conversion.

Opinions? Pictures? Photoshop jobs?

i was considering it too, you could be the first, do it, and post pictures!!

and streetfighter is a broad term, even before ducati made their steetfighter, i think that is what they mean on the website

Hmm, I think I might. I'll have to follow my usual method for considering major cosmetic mods. Sit and stare at my bike imagining the part installed on it.

It would be a real challenge due to the 696 headlight being directly integrated into the gauge cluster mount.

Hope it looks good!

Those have both been done on the older style monsters.  I've never seen them done on the new (696/1100).  I think you would be the first.  If you are interested in seeing some pix just use the search function and look for "Hesa Fire Headlight" and "dual headlight".  I like the look of the Hesa Fire Headlight but it was too skinny for my windscreen.  It looks good without a fairing and the new 696/1100 windscreen might even work with it.  The Hesa was also used on the Monstrada (Bomb bike a little while ago).  The only 696/1100 headlight mods I've seen other than painting/powdercoating the silver part of the headlight has been to install the headlight off on S2R and I just recently seen one with a Duc Streetfighter Headlight.  Search for "Streetfighter Headlight".  It was posted just last week IIRC.

Is is absolutely doable and pretty easy....

When I made the switch, I was debating between the dual and single... I went with single because i liked the classic/standard look.... But,with the same amount of ease I installed the single you could easily install the dual.

I bought the light/mount/turn signal comp from xpostreetfighter.com... The dual headlight is same mount/brackets and most likely the same wiring

Was it a direct install with the included plug just working out of the the box or was there a bunch of cutting/splicing/soldering to get the light working properly?

*edit
Also, I'm about to buy the H-comp exhaust. How is the sound compared to stock or termi's. I love the look but am concerned that without any type of silencer the sound may not be very clean or have an attractive tone. I want to sound mean, but not like crap. Is the volume ear deafening? (I ride with a Harley owner w/ straightpipes unbaffeled and even this is not insanely loud)

No, it was not. This is a universal light so it is not specific to the 696/1100 wiring. What I did was cut off the plug on the stock headlight and solder that to the new one.... It really wasn't that difficult. I have a buddy who is good at soldering/wiring and was able to do it fairly quickly.

The most difficult part was making mounts for the gauges. It takes some times, and tools to get them right.

As far as the H-competition exhaust.... It's amazing! I had quat-d oval slipons.... I thought they sounded good and were loud with the baffles out... The under-seat exhaust blows it away in sound. Very clean and refined sound. I absolutely love it. It is loud, and earplugs are a must on long rides..... But, it sounds much more refined than my slipons did with the baffles removed. Bike seems to have much more power and get going much faster. It comes with a whole new mid-pipe as well as the muffler..... it's an excellent system.

Have you checked out these:

http://www.desmorados.com/shop/catalog/default.php?cPath=350_266

Here is a dual unit in black for you:

http://www.desmorados.com/shop/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=350_266_566&products_id=1895

Desmoworld has a good reputation around here and apparently the guys running it speak passable English (just in case http://translate.google.com isn't good enough for you).

It looks like they have cheaper prices and a good number of options.  I think somewhere on there they also sell fork mounts, but those are generally pretty easy to find.

This word "Doppelscheinwerfer " made my day,  it just says "twin headlights" but when you yell it angrily it's more sinister.

Any chance you could take some close up photos of the method you used to mount the gauges? I am confident I could manage to make a nice bracket but I'd like to have a starting point.

Somewhat of a writeup... Some pics of the brackets I made... Pretty simple design that worked really well... Everything is hidden behind the gauge cover.

Now I have clipons and new handlebars so it's a tad bit different

id like to see a 696 / 1100 with these over under style, maybe tucked deep back into the forks.

thanks. Is the headlight more of a project to do over the winter or was it really that easy? I don't have accessibility to powder coating and no one I know is really any good at electric work.
