I have a '09 M696 with aftermarket head light. The low beam quit working. The high still works. So do all other lights on the moto. Checked the fuse and it looks ok. Could someone help?

Many thanks

Any more information?

What type of light, how you installed it/connected it.
Pictures??

If not soldered I would check your connections and try again.
Is this thing on?

Since you didn't specify anything about the aftermarket headlight, it's going to be pretty hard for anyone to come up with ideas.

Before you go ripping stuff apart, though... you DID check the bulb, right? By replacing it with a known good one? That would seem like the most likely explanation to me.

Sorry I left out some details. The headlight is from Aztech8. It's the 4" dual. I soldered the connection and checked today and it appeared solid. The bulbs also look good. When I start the bike I don't really hear the light being turned on. There used to be a little click at the beginning. Like I said I can turn the highs on, so I will be riding with that position for the time being. I will check and maybe clean the LH switch soon.

Thanks for your help,

It's got to be either: incorrect wiring, bad connection, burnt bulb.

Found the problem. Burned connection. What do you guys think that my options are short of replacing the whole headlight wiring. Could I just repair the plug? The draw of the aftermarket headlight seems to be too much for the plug. Any help is much appreciated.

Raux

do you still have the stock headlight unit?

bicunica

Yes I do but I cut off the plug on it so I could connect the new headlight. Going to the dealer to see if they can just replace the burned one and re-install the male side at the headlight side. Makes sense?

DucatiTorrey

post some pictures of your light set up, in working order, i need to make sure how cool it looks before i can make any suggestions ( ;D sorry not many headlight jobs out there yet)

Keeping it as I might switch back to the stock.

I'm interested in seeing your aftermarket setup also. I have been considering switching to dual 4.5" round lights.

I'll try to take some pictures in the next couple of days and post them.
I got the set from Aztech8.com and have to say the guy is very helpful. Called him about the burnt plug and he tried to help as much as he could over the phone. Highly recommend him.
