I love the minishells.  I bought a case of the Aquila slugs, which are hilarious looking but work very well.  I had the ramp in my 870 modified to use them.

Did anyone ever get one of those s/g's that was made for minishells?  (only uses them, nothing bigger).  There were a couple made..

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Anyone here ever used a Steyr Elite? Impressions?

Apparently they do good work - I haven't shot the elite, but the Steyr Maadi AK-47's were supposed to be top notch.

Steyr-Mannlicher, which makes the AUG, SSG and Elite, did not make the Maadi AK's.  Those were imported by "Steyr USA, Inc" which is no longer associated with Steyr-Mannlicher (and is out of business).

ALl the Egyptian Maadi AK's were made by Egypt's Maadi Al-Fum arsenal on Soviet dies.

The real Steyr of Austria was never involved in the Maadi imports.

The Elite is the same receiver as the SSG.  It's an awesome platform.  I am not a fan of the stock they use, I prefer a full stock rather than a skeleton.

I know they do some unusual outsourcing deals though.  The American version of the AUG is going to be licensed to Sabre in TN for manufacture under the Steyr name.

Buckethead

I had an SBS in 25-06 for a while.

Smoothest working action I have used that was made in the last 50 years.

Factory trigger broke like glass. No creep whatsoever.

Wow, I did not know there was more than one Steyr. Well, now I feel better educated.

No, no, it is just how many of the foreign gun companies work due to laws.  They can't operate directly in the USA, so they have license their name or set up a separate subsidiary (either a manufacturer or an importer).  So when you buy a Glock, it says it is made in Smyrna, Georgia NOT Austria because they have different laws if they are imported.

The former Steyr USA Inc was a licensee who had the right from Steyr-Mannlicher to sell and import guns under the Steyr name in the USA.  They were the only place to get Steyr rifles from.  They also decided (The US licensee) to import non-Steyr rifles, which might have (I have no way to know) PISSED off the Austrians since it meant a bunch of non-Mannlicher rifles got the "Steyr" name on them, and subsequently the licensee (I believe they are now called Guardian Arms) lost the right to sell/import guns as "Steyr"

This is a VERY common practice, but now most of the foreign gun companies sell under a subsidiary so they have better control.

Stoeger is separate from Benelli, but Benelli USA (a licensee) sells and guarantees Stoeger shotguns (hwich are made in Brazil, not Italy).  Forjas Taurus used to be a licensee of S&W pistols until S&W got pissed that Taurus was selling copies of their pistols outside of the USA with the Taurus name on them.

Sauer Arms (germany) is a licensee of SIG (which is why SIG is known as SIG-Sauer) outside of Switzerland, due to Switzerland's arms export laws.  Sauer set up a subsidiary in New Hampshire and that's why SIG frames are made in the USA..

and so on.

How do you like the scope mounted on top of the carry handle?  Ive got the RRA LAR8 flat top with a beast of a scope on it (6.5-24 x 50) and I just use the scope as a carry handle.

Ive got an AR15 build coming soon, hence my question.

I was wondering if anyone would say anything about that. I don't like it up there at all. In fact, I took that photo right after I got the scope. 2 shots at the range, and I removed the carry handle and just have the scope mounted. I can't get my cheek-wedge properly with the scope on top.

I think the 4x scope is fine even at medium range. Since I mostly target shoot and plink with that mounted on the AR, it's fine just having the scope stand alone.

I do keep the red dot mounted on the shotgun, although I occasionally switch it over the the AR (have to re-zero though).

Eventually, I would like to get an Eotech and 3x magnifier that is adjustable from 1x to 3x for the AR. But DAMN, this stuff gets expensive, and my wallet only has so much wiggle room. I am trying to keep my Foggy going too! :)

I just got my AR a few months ago. What a joy to shoot! Accurate, easy recoil. I LOVE firing and plinking with that gun! The shotgun on the other hand. BOOOOOM ! ! !

I wouldnt put a full scope on the carry handle, esp if it's an A3 type.  Too easy to get knocked around, plus the parallax is so great, it is useless IMHO unless you have a fixed range.

Collimator yes, red dot yes, but no scope more than 2-4x and only fixed glass.

ARMS has some great scope mounts for both A2 and A3 type uppers.  They even make an offset type which mounts onto the A2 carry handle but the scope mounts forward and low.  can't use it if you have the forward fixed sights tho.

I now have that same scope mounted right on the flat top without the iron sight/carry handle. It is very low and has the front sight right smack in the middle. But since the point of focus is much farther away, you can't even see the front sights through the scope.
I like shooting it that way the best since it is a more natural shooting position.
