another possible place might be Union Jacks in Bethesda http://www.unionjacksbethesda.com/ as they have nice pool tables, dart boards, and decent selection of drinkery and ample nearby parking as well as the option for folks to walk over from the Metro if they'de rather...
+1 for Union Jack's, metro's nearby if you need and there's a parking garage nearby if you prefer. Also lots of other places around there if we want to change.

Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.

Sounds good to me - but I'll say H St Country Club probably won't work: too little seating and lots of competition for the putt putt golf. IMHO it was way overpriced too.

Another thought for central location + awesome beer is Pizza Paradiso Dupont. I *think* they'd reserve a table (otherwise there *will* be a wait). Up-side: right near the Metro. Bad: parking's not so great (unless you're on bike). Good: everybody like pizza. Bad: not everybody likes pizza.

And looks like they just opened up an Old Town location and they're doing a Scottish thing: http://www.eatyourpizza.com/2010-scottish-walk
14 Scottish (Style) beers on tap. Anyone feel like reconnoitering tomorrow evening? You know - for research purposes!

Old Town?  Scottish beer?  Old Town?

I think yes is the answer I'm looking for!

As far as next week goes: Union Jack has 50% off on sandwiches and salads on both Tues and Thurs.  Just saying.

Alrighty - so tomorrow (Sat night) at Pizza Paradiso Old Town: 124 King St. Alexandria to check out the Scottish beer selection, and possibly the Scottish pizza.

The beer list looks impressive: http://www.eatyourpizza.com

Consider it a chance to talk about where next week's official meet-up will be. And kilts. There will probably be talk of kilts. Maybe Ducatis. Who knows?

(Note: Zoom, this was not an secret request for you to show up in a utili-kilt, no matter how "in theme" it would be.  Evil)

I'm already committed tomorrow night, so prolly won't make it. If you guys stay out later please post up (or txt) your location; I might be able to make a guest appearance.

Regarding next week, I think Union Jack's (Bethesda) is in the running... And FWIW I've never had a bad time at Union Jack's Ballston.

Depending on how late you guys are out tonight, I could make it my third rendezvous of the evening.

Cool.  There's a chance that a Scostralian friend of mine might show up as well.

Mmmm... chewy beer...

I like my red wine spicy, my stouts chewy, my beef twitching, and my bacon very well done.  This is all that matters.

Yep - but as the pizza menu is the same, I'd say the DuPont location would be better. Then again I say that because it's closer to me Smiley
They're def. not losing any money on that place judging by the crowd.
