Thanks everyone for your feedback. It is truly a hard choice.  I had a black 2004 S4R and it was a beauty but this is now a really hard choice.  When I look at the red I think wow hot and then when I look at the tricolore I think different and unique but not as hot as the Tricolore.

Im going red, it is a hotter looking bike and I am not totally convinced with that paint scheme of the red, white and green it is a little too Italian for my Portuguese blood.

I checked with Nada Guides which isn't the best place to test values but the 2007 S4RS had a higher resale value than the 2008 Tricolore I guess because of the odd paint job it is not as popular or it is more rare.

Anyhow I am going Red.  The bike has 690 miles on it rarely ridden the tri has 5000 miles and I am not 100% convinced on that colour scheme, too red, white and green I am more of a solid colour man myslef.

Can't wait to start adding the upgrades.

Make up your mind and put us out of our misery! laughingdp Just do it!! You won't regret it either way. How many "you can't go wrong" bike buying deals do you run across?? Buy it and ride it!!! [moto] How many folks would love to be in this dilemma?

As everybody said bikes are same.  Get the one you can randomly peek into the garage at and just smile.
FWIW I originally went down to the dealership planning on riding a tricolor home - I thought it looked gorgeous in pictures.  Once I saw the tricolor in person I ended up riding home on a black and silver 07 and have never regretted it. But it should be your choice, not ours.

I didn't hesitate when I ordered black and it still wows me every time I look at it.

The tricolor would definitely be the better choice.  The value on the bike is actually increasing...its the last of that monster generation too.

My insurance company stated they estimate the value at 17k.  meanwhile my reg. s4rs is only at 9.8k right now and its an 07

Im going to say that the insurance company knows a little more on the value of the bike...just saying.

Plus just saw one in cali go for 15.5k.

Thats a pretty solid value, seeing how it retailed for just a little more than that 3 years ago.

quick search finds four for sale in the 10.2 range with mods.

but ok, invest away.  Maybe your insurance agent will buy it.

edit:  shit, even missed the one for sale on this forum for 9.5

I would say Slater may have a better handle on values than an insurance company..  he certainly is more involved in the Monster scene.
We sold a TC a few months back that had a ton of goodies on it and went for as much as one could probably ask..  here is the picture

I want to know what the secret is to getting the carbon fiber *vented* belt covers on there.  I have a set but I can't see how they are going on without dropping the engine first.  Did somebody modify something or did they actually drop the engine?  Even with the battery tray removed the frame is just too close to the engine to maneuver the vertical cover around and get it down over the belt.

Um, just sayin', but if you're buying late-model bikes (or cars) as investments of sorts, you're gonna be pretty disappointed....

I've got real estate opportunities for ya.  Wink
