I hate itwhen people ride their bikes on thesidewalk.

Bikes or MotorBikes?

Back in Italy, when stuck in traffic I would sometimes ride my motorcycle on the sidewalk (if there were NO pedestrians) to get around cars

I figure he means bicycles... though I did see some chick on a scooter on the sidewalks near the key bridge one time.

Yea, I am referring to bicycles.  I have been a cyclist for a long time and always hate when cyclists go through so much to try and get accepted as a viable form of legitimate transportation only to see it get marginalized again by people riding on the sidewalk...

Now motorcycles on the sidewalk?  That's just Evil and what riding a Super Duke is all about.

what annoys me about bicyclists is the # of them that want to ride in the street and do and then disregard the laws of the street that they are subject to just as you and I are....like stop lights for example....they roll up through a pack of cars and then roll right through a red light instead of abiding by the law....and the kicker is this...if one of them ran through a light and got plowed into by oncoming traffic, the guy in the car would most likely get the ticket whereas if it were a car it would be the opposite.

What about cagers who refuse to share the road with ANYTHING smaller than them, and have the mentality that instead of being in their way, bicycles belong on the sidewalk?  And they drive and park in designated bicycle lanes?  I think drivers, cyclists, scooterists, and pedestrians should all be put into a room and schooled on how to play nicely with each other (maybe even legally).

I'll agree with that.  One of the shortfalls to getting about in American cities is the utter lack of comprehensive education when it comes to operating (insert your vehicle of choice) around other vehicles.

Plus not every rule is universal among the states, so when I visited or moved here I would've liked a list of things I'm supposed to do differently like put the cell on speakerphone and stop for pedestrians in crosswalks.  (what if they're crossing in the middle of the street?)  At a minimum I think the rental car places and DMVs should distribute a list of the state's driving laws when you rent a car or transfer your license.

Pedestrians are easy, I just downshift one or two and watch them run for their lives! Evil

Seriously tho, it's a real problem for me when peds don't use the crosswalks or cross too quickly because I have to worry about not hitting them and also about not being hit by some distracted driver.

as far as the state's driving laws and a local flier when you rent a car not in your residential locale, I agree fully....

as far as a suppliment when you transfer your liscence, I think they expect you, as a new resident, to take the responsibility and initiative to read and understand the rules and regulations in the individual state's DMV/MVA/Yadda, at the time of transfer, and it is to be an understood acceptance of those differences and things you must know and acclimate to accordingly when you recieve your liscence in that state.

I will be taking off a 1/2 day next Friday if anyone wants to... oh crap, so will all drivers, probably.  Well, let me know if you want to ride anyway and show me what you learned.

Wholesale parts mgr at Martens.  He hooked me up with a great repair shop in Wheaton that just did some work on my 97 Passat.

Wheaton eh? I wonder what they charge for a Mark 5 TDI T-belt job?
