how much did your neighbor charge you for that advice?

I tried to fix myself before replacement.

I just couldn't find a flapper that fit properly.

That is what led to replacement.

When installing your toilets check with our local state/county for rebates..

Low flow toilets 1.6 are fetching around 100 bucks a toilet

high efficiency toilets 1.28 are fetching around 200 dollars

I highly reccomend the kohler cimmeron 1.28 it has a great flush and will put down almost everything a human body can throw at it..

Just my 2 cents.. If anyone needs pluming help / walkthough just send me a pm I can call u.

Have a good one

Precisely.

When I moved into my current abode, the wax ring in the downstairs bathroom leaked ever so slightly. I never got around to it, and one day ran across a handyman's ad in the paper. It got fixed for less than $20 including parts and labor.

Just put in a Glacier Bay dual flush toilet from Homeboy Depot.  $158.  Cones with wax ring, bolts, seat, everything.  Wonder if it qualifies for the $200 credit?

I know a guy who got one of those to use as his punch bowl....he fills the bowl and then the tank with something different, but mixable with the 1st concoction and then when it gets low enough he refills with a flush!!!

Will not flush a cabbage... something that, unfortunately, a human body can and has thrown at it... and then tried to flush it...

Well joy.

Turns out my leaking toilet may not have been leaking just at the flapper.

It has also been leaking at the shutoff valve.

And dripping / soaking onto / into my carpet.

And through the floor where it happily stained the celing in my sunroom under it.

I have pulled back the carpet, am running a dehumidifier at the rev limiter and have cut out all the soaked carpet pad.

The toilet seems to be listing toward the back left corner.

Where the floor is soaked and is likely make the beast with two backsed.

I am not happy [bang]

Isn't plumbing wonderful?
Anytime I have a leak here, I end up having to replace everything within sight of it too as everything breaks the moment you touch it.
