I am pretty sure they did it for the stills so Cruise's feet would touch the ground

the action pics look like a Hypermotard.  Either way, this is a pic of the bike, supposedly on the set;

That's funny!  I see they put rains on the bike as well, which would last about 10 seconds on a dry road.

They probably have a few bikes... And it's not like one couldn't lower a HM if they wanted to. IF there is an aprillia based one it might have been for some other special purpose and not just because he's short. That Apr is stock trim is about as tall as the HM

That pic also kinda doenst look like tom cruise... maybe they used the aprillia because the engine is much smoother and easier to stunt then the ducati is....i mean, massive engine braking and huge 2 cylinder. not particularly easy.

Maybe the Aprilia is used for the stunt shots because I'd imagine it could take the hit from a hardcore jump better being a considerably lighter more raceready supermoto.

That must have been the jump scene bike.  That is not Cruise on the bike.  That is a dummy riding pillion.   Makes sense to use a more off road based bike for a bike air jump.

That IS tom on the bike, and no he didnt do all the stunts, but did do some.

Had to use a Aprilia, as the cases and pipe hit the ground HARD when jumping the bike, however the large majority of the bike stuff in the movie is actually a Hyper.

Just not the jump.

I don't get it.  The studio went to the trouble of replacing the Aprilia 's frame with a custom trellis frame?
