I dig that bike and with a seat height of 30.5 I can fit on it to.

But if I had 18k to spend on a bike I would get a 1098 first  [thumbsup]

O.M.F.G!!!  [evil]  ;D

685lbs.. that's 310kg dry, WTF? You'd need 200hp to make that thing move. The Triumph Rocket III has 140hp for around 300kg and it moves ok.

I miss my old VMAX. 265kg dry and a chassis that twisted when you did a hard launch.. and those lollypop style indicators. Classic

Why is every manufacturer going to those make the beast with two backstarded headlights?? I hate those. Also looks like Yamaha stole the ugliest part of the Kawk Z1000, the fugly exhaust cans.  [roll] Other than that I reckon it's a beast.

The old V max used to go just straight ahead. No turns at all. I rode one once.
This one is probably the same... [coffee]

rode my friend's vmax the other week (it was an older one, he bought it used), and I thought it cornered just fine.

was I comparing it to the duc? hellz, no.  is it possible that it wasn't completely stock? sure.

but it shot forward, slowed down, and turned well enough that I had a big ol'grin while riding, and it reinforced the fact that I want one for my garage. when I have a garage.

I had a VMAX, it was my second bike after the ZZR250.. haha from 33hp to 145hp. It cornered fine, braked ok.

It's not a Ducati... it's not a sportsbike. It's much more than a Harley, to me.

I just read this new VMax article and the thought that struck me is this bike is at least 10 years overdue.  It has been so long now that nobody is going to care or buy one especially at $18K.

The bike looks heavy.  It looks like there is more rake which won't help handling.  The headlight is the same stupid looking headlight started by the V-Rod.  I never really liked the fake side scoops and now they look twice as big.  The exhaust looks horrible.  It is great that mufflers are made with titanium, but now you will be throwing away expensive mufflers when you replace them with aftermarket mufflers.  The rear fender looks exactly the same as 1985.  It looks like a caricature of a motorcycle rather than a real motorcycle.

Smiling End

I saw a crazy Vmax about 10 years ago at a show that had a giant supercharger mounted to the side of it.  It looked really sick.  Since then I've always wanted to ride one.

My thoughts exactly.  There have been some really nice custom V-Max's out there they could have used for ideas.  I have seen people convert them to inverted front forks and chain drive fairly easily.  Those two changes alone on the old style V-Max would be a huge improvement over this thing.  If they really wanted to do something cool they should have tried this.

I have owned them in the past also the baby V-Max  FZX 700. My brother has a 2005 Max And my Fazer. This new one should address all of the shortcomings of the old one. The old one did handle like a truck but it was ok for street riding. It does look interesting. The videos on the microsite http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/msite/micro_v1.aspx   do explain all of the improvements.

1700ccs. Sweet zombie Jesus.

My thoughts exactly.  I always thought the new VMAX looked bad ass, but 197hp??? That just turns me on.

CountGreffi

That bike is Bad-the-F-ass. It just screams "don't even try buddy".

It looks bigger and clumsier than the old V-Max.  Looks like a  big engine on a roller skate maybe? [roll]

What's with the Japanese?  Once upon a time they built some decent power cruisers.  They cancelled the Valkeryie and the Magna which could hold their own in a turn.  Now they build silly looking Runes, and now this moto-version of a Sumo wrestler.

I no capiche!!    ;D

I guess that's why I bought a Monster isn't it??   [moto]
