Santa brought me a ruger mini 14 for Christmas  :)

Anybody have experience with this particular gun?

Looking at changing out the stock and a few other bits. Suggestions?

Will primarily be a fun range/plunking gun.

But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Lol no kidding.

Haven't looked too hard yet but just looking at stocks, there seems to be wide range in price. Wondering what brands to stay away from, stuff like that. I'd like to get a tactical type stock with a pistol grip. Couple of extended mags (the 5 round stocker seems to empty a little too quick  :) )

My buddy is thinking about selling his Savage 10MLSS.  It's a muzzleloader that shoots smokeless powder.

I'll be hunting with it Friday.  He has it sighted in 1" high at 100 yards, dead on at 200.  Shooting a 240 grain XTP.  Can't wait to see what it will do.

I made some jacketed 295 grain hollowpoints for the Savage front stuffers -  they are decidedly grim on meat - the only tracking you need to do is the couple feet straight down.  They work exceptionally well in most sabot muzzleloaders as well as in the 44 magnum.  One of my customers shot a variety of African game with them with good success.
This isn't a dress rehearsal for life - this is it!

'tiz mentioned Galil earlier so I sent him a link.

He says it's a deal...

From what I've been reading, this gives the most bang for the buck in regards to accuracy for the mini 14:

Really seems like a gimmick, but apparently works.

That's a really neat rifle. Never heard of Galil until now. I just got done reading the wiki. Seems like a tough and reliable firearm [thumbsup]

OK guys I have two guns I'm thinking of bidding on.  The first is a Romanian High-Capacity AK-47 WASR10 7.62x39 Rifle and the second is a Beretta CX4 in a 9mm configuration.  They are both very different and I have shit tons of Beretta 9mm and 40 clips so the latter I thought would be fun.  I've never owned an AK style gun but for the price of this baby, under 500, I thought why not try it.  Any experience out there?

Are you going to make a move on the Galil Nate?

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

I had the early Roms in 762x39 and the 5.45x39  both had trigger lash-back which does not feel good after a few pulls

your index finger will start complaining quickly if you have one that hasn't had the action cleaned up

IIRC the gas piston extension was either soldered or epoxied to the bolt carrier unit.

Insanely drunk or Fume-happy Salvation Army members must have done the varnish work on the furniture

The paint finish (I think calling it phosphating would be an exaggeration)  was sketchy

But they are fun guns and they do work to a nominal level of man-kill accuracy

Nah...

I like steel pistols, and rifles with wooden furniture...not the tactical stuff.

I thought someone might be interested.
