This outfit has been making some real interesting shotgun slugs in Europe for quite a while.  They have been available off and on in the US.  I have been trying to get my hands on some to test.

At the weight of the G2R bullets, they should be doing a bit better in the velocity department unless there are some factors that aren't clear.  The Federal 115 +P+ hollowpoint does about 1300 - 1350 in the guns I chronographed them in.  That bullet should be able to do 1400 anyway unless the solid copper has too much resistance for going down the bore.  I also wonder about how well the ammo handles rough handling - if it is possible to bend or break off one of the tips.  The other issue with civilian use is getting your behind sued off for using such a "horrific" bullet.  It may not be the deciding factor in a trial, but its just another thing to have to fight. The Winchester black talon project was shut down over similar publicity.  We have been killing each other off with conventional bullets for a long time - they still work pretty well.
This isn't a dress rehearsal for life - this is it!

I've known Louis Awerbock for years and have taken many of his Yavapai firearms courses (shotgun and urban rifle) when they traveled to my part of the country. He is a huge fan of the defensive shotgun and really keeps up on the guns and ammo technology.

At one of the last shotgun courses I took from him (sadly years ago) he told me about a guy (I believe it was in Utah? maybe?) that had developed a really cool buckshot round that maintained all of the buckshot pellets in their cup until it struck the target. Basically it acted like a slug and could travel the normal, effective slug distances but would expand and dispurse the shot upon impact. It had high (1600 ft/sec) slug velocity and tremendous penetration. VERY lethal. [popcorn] He said you can imagine the interest from the ATF, other Fed agencies and ammo makers everywhere.

Years have passed and I have never heard it mentioned again. Louis saw them and shot them so I know they existed at one time.
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

No lead, at least it's eco-friendly.

Sounds like a commercially made wax slug?

man that RIP round works to spec, it would be great in a after SHTF world when ammo is scarce and you don't have to worry about lawers.

Trust me, there will still be lawyers even in the after life. [laugh] And considering their own promo video shows how much of the actual bullet frags off a target into uncharted space you can only imagine the potential for collateral friendly damage. Ergo... the lawyers. [popcorn] ;)

make the beast with two backs it, I want it in .22LR.  At least the $80 per box of 500 would feel justified.

The video should have been narrated by Billy Mays or his replacement.
