"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Nikon 3-9

I used to be able to do it with iron. ;)

Drink more carrot juice.  Seriously.  I'm the only person in my family who doesn't wear glasses.  As child, I ate about a lb of carrots a day and now I drink about 2lbs a day with the juicer.

You cannot OD on vitamin C or carotene.  Best antioxidants ever.

I have a 8-25x Leupold and you can't do much better (well, you can but I can't afford it).

I can do 300 with iron sights. Pretty easily actually. You just lead the plastic Russian pop-up a bit more.  [laugh]
I qualified 40/40 and did almost every year following. When I did miss, it was at 50...not at 300.
Last few times out to Camp Dodge, I was able to repeat but I also was using a far better weapon than the M16A1 they stuck me with in basic. It wasn't a bad weapon but everytime we played with MILES gear, the blanks would just cause constant jams.
And of course, during any live fire, I always had to deal with cartridges being ejected across the bridge of my nose.

Is that scope for target shooting only? The reason I'm asking is that I'm shopping for a scope I can use for hunting and long range target practice ( 300 -500 feet)
without making it too hard to acquire the deer or elk in the scope in a speedy fashion. I'm currently using a 3-9x Leupold and my eyes have the Nate syndrome ;D

I am curious if anyone on here owns or has shot the FN Five-Seven.

I know it is a rather ridiculous gun designed by FN for NATO to basically penetrate soft body armor as its only purpose. Also, the 5.7mm round is rare and expensive.

I follow FPS Russia on YouTube and he shot one and the accuracy at distance was pretty amazing out of a handgun, but I suppose it isn't much difference than iron sights on rifle considering it shoots a necked down rifle round.

A scope is "for" whatever you use it for provided it's designed for the caliber and conditions. The VX-3 scopes are primarily hunting scopes and long range target shooting.  I'd want something a little lower power for deer/elk.  You get into some legal issues taking very long range shots when hunting.

You seem to be pretty knowledgable on scopes.

What do you recommend for a .300 win mag. Gun will be used for large game (i.e. Elk, Moose) and want the ability for long distance shooting (for fun). So I guess a scope that will do it all!

A good quality 3-9x scope.. the bigger the objective the better and more $$$.  I won't use anything less than a 30mm lens.  the difference is huge.  I am partial to Leupold.

I do quite a bit of reading and it seems like military snipers use Schmidt and Bender scopes that are 16x50. Does that mean the "zoom" is a lot better on one of these? I can't ever see spending 4g on a scope, but it is nice to look!

those have very heavy duty housings and a 50mm objective.  anything that big is going to run you bills.  I got my Leopold used and it was still a grand.

I have a vari-x II  3-9x50 on my 700 PSS.  The reticle is way too thick, it covers the bullseye at 100.  Drives me nuts.  Go for a fine plex.
