What sights did you go with?

Trij HDs with the orange front.  Ping'd Frank to get his take on the Warren Tactical f/o sights, but didn't hear back from him.  I didn't have great luck with the TFO fibres I had before, and all my Glocks have the HDs, so it seemed natural.
And the sugar fountain fairy swore so hard when she came to super-size that stale hope soybean; liiiike a homeless German woman. Who is this super-sizing spirit-crushing femme? And tell her I'll break a tree root up in her shrimp.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

Any questions you have for Frank, ask me and I'll get the answer. The boy is busy.
Woohoohoohoo! Two personal records! For breath holding and number of sharks shot in the face.

HA!  Frank just posted up that he's working on a collaboration deal with 10-8.

Took the M&P out for the first time after installing the APEX trigger kit and the HD sights.  Those APEX parts make a hell of a difference on how that weapon shoots; no more grit, a smooth take up followed by a crisp release, and a MUCH shorter reset.  MAJOR improvement!   [thumbsup]

Still don't print anywhere near as tight of groups as I do with the 1911 though.   :D

I'm a little dissapointed with my M&P, experienced the same results shooting both guns at the range

I wasn't sure about the M&P either at first.  I found the standard three dot sights distracting and the trigger was horrible!  Replaced both of those, and while it's not an entirely new pistol, it is now how it should have come from the factory.  Find someone with an APEX kit installed and shoot theirs.  You'll order parts the same day.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

I think finding an M&P that shoots as well as even a mildly tuned 1911 is going to be difficult.  The 1911s I've fired have all been lasers.  Once you figure out how to grip it and aim it, the gun just works.

Only thing I found to come close was the P220.  The ergos are better for my hand, so it's easier for me to shoot the same nice groups.

I love a good .45  [thumbsup]  The ballistics might not be as snazzy as some of the newer designed cartridges, but that big bullet running at a lower pressure just seems to work.  They generally don't blow up the chamber (kabooms), since they run significantly lower pressures than a 9mm or 40S&W.  They have a smoother recoil.  It's more of a "thump" as opposed to the "snap" of a .40.  It also makes a more pleasant, deeper sound.

Anyway...  the .45 is my favorite caliber to just go shooting with.  Not the latest and greatest whiz-bang thing out there, just a well-designed and pleasant cartridge to use.

I had an older, mid '90s 220 that I recently sold.  It was a nice shooting gun, and very accurate, but I just didn't like the fact that its bore-axis was so high.  I started selling off my .45s and replacing them with 9mm in the last few years as I just don't .45 as enjoyable to shoot.  I'm down to one 1911, but I think I'll end up keeping this one.  It's fun to shoot, but the necrotic bone in my wrist keeps me from putting too many rounds down the pipe...

Get good at using the other hand?

Friend of mine just offered me a USP .45 for a good price.

Thoughts?
