Nice  [thumbsup] 8 to 12 is a big jump, especially if your wind calls are weak, and even then it ain't no joke.

Biggest problem was the spotter couldn't see the bullet strikes... it had rained the day before and it wasn't dry enough.  I probably could have sighted over the top of the rear aperture, but without any spotter feedback it was a crap shoot.

Well there is that. Working at that distance, you really need a lot of experience on the glass. (Meaning sometimes you don't get to shoot, but your skill can put another shooter on the target). You have got to be able to see trace all the way in. I can spend all day on glass. I love reading and calling winds at distance, spent countless hundreds of hours working on it. I consider it an art. There are those days though when nothing seems to make sense.
Woohoohoohoo! Two personal records! For breath holding and number of sharks shot in the face.

One of the guys was shooting .45-70 at 1244yds and there were 3 of us spotting... trying to pick it up.  We finally figured at that distance, with his light Unique load under a 405grn bullet... the bullets were dropping in vs skipping off the ground.

Exsquueze me' Not positive what max ord' is with that round, but it's up there. You need someone looking for trace, and someone looking for splash when you're reaching out that far.

Solid work with the 2.0 today. 500rds running a bunch of different drills, lots of movement today. Mag changes are starting to come around, but still not as clean as the Glock. I do like it though. Gen 5 Glocks are coming soon. Ambi slide release (make the beast with two backs lefties), no more stupid finger grooves, magwell is slightly flared and a better barrel.

Oh yeah?  They finally got the M Series issues sorted?

Ah.

Noob question. How come mutli shot rifles all seem to use a magazine (or an extra barrel)?  Why aren't there revolver rifles?

Capacity, ease of carrying multiple magazines, reloading, etc.. Colt made the first one, I believe. Here's a few links.

There is the issue of the cylinder/barrel gap... the however small space between the end of the cylinder and the forcing cone of the barrel.  Cast lead bullets spit lead out from this gap in pistols, and in any event, a certain amount of blast (gasses) escape through this gap; a high-powered rifle would be... uh, extraordinary!  Additionally, a revolver's cylinder must be 'timed' so that it properly lines up with the barrel's bore, and also the issue of all that lockwork wearing under recoil and use.

So, you're saying when I commission a revolver-style .60 nitro express elephant gun from Holland and Holland, I shouldn't get it made in a bullpup configuration?

Nope, I say go for it!  It'll certainly be one of a kind, and it will make it special to whomever gets it after you are decapitated.

A 'revolver bullpup.'  Now... I hadn't even thought about that!  I still can't get used to the idea of an M1a bullpup, so... what the hell?  Why not?
