Many of the comments on this article pooh poohed the rifle quite a lot.

Is that to be expected because of obvious flaws over the current equipment, or because it's a H&K not a US design?

I'm also interested in your thoughts and experience kopf.

I've had the 416 out forward before.  It's a good fun, but a little heavy for what it is.  Just have to get past the HKness.

First worked with the H&K 416 with a 9” and 10.5” barrel in 04ish. It's nice kit, but it's not better than any of the 'quality' M4 variants out there. (ymmv)  The main difference outside of furniture, is the HK is short stroke gas piston vs direct impingement.

It is an amazing feat of engineering when you can design a gun that will fire regardless of which way the bullets are loaded into the magazine!
