Gotcha

sounds like a personal preference issue

I haven't looked but can I change out the barrel on that 870 for a longer one?

Should I ever want to hunt or shoot skeet/trap.

yes.

takes about 20 seconds if you have one hand and are drunk.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Unfortunately it appears that rc51/oldfastwin was registered a day before the new fastwin came on board, so it was still available when you reregistered.

No it wasn't it. Nate told me that. And AR rounds do over penetrate. You wanna argue with Clint Smith? Remind me to stay out of your sheetrock housing. :P
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

CONFIDENCE: the feeling you have right before you understand the situation.

I dunno who this clint smith guy is

but

a make the beast with two backsing BB will "over penetrate" a sheetrock wall

Kopfjager

When the bullet penetrates the body and starts to slow, as it is punching through flesh and bone, it won't over penetrate the wall behind the person you just burned down. I promise. Learn how to shoot.
Woohoohoohoo! Two personal records! For breath holding and number of sharks shot in the face.

I know how to shoot. I'm talking a missed shot going through sheetrock. Not a hit. Google Clint Smith/Thunder Ranch. Not you Kopf but Mother. I know you know who he is. [thumbsup] ;D

well given my experience shooting humans with rifle calibers inside buildings...

This actually suprises me

I figured a .223 would clear a person and a wall without much effort

This would depend on the 223 round.  http://www.6mmbr.com/223Rem.html

Oh, and I would never (personally) use .223 as a home defense weapon.  ;)

as to this Wylde chamber .223 vs. 5.56 throat issue

is it purely a consideration in the AR configuration of rifle

or

is it also an issue in say a bolt action?

Barrel length type of round all has an effect. If I was using 223, it would be for reaching out (unless I was doing CQB). Home defense would always be a shotgun, unless you do a lot of pistol training.

The key is that I am hitting what I am shooting at.
When the the 357 SIG round was going to be used by the FAM's everyone thought about over penetration in the aircraft. After a lot of testing, it proved to not be an issue.

Empty out the shotgun shells and throw in some rock salt, keep an extra 00 buckshot in the shell holder to "finish" the job afterwards.

isn't that a little like digging a hole with a shovel while standing next to a backhoe?
