You should know by now I'm stoopit. ;D

Ah... too damn many have died or been injured. That's for sure! I love the rifle and never had these problems before and I know my brother and his sons didn't do anything to cause this. They know their gun shit. It just happened on their watch. I'm just glad my brother and nephews didn't get shot while loading or unloading the rifle. Although I also know it would have been pointed in a safe direction. Still...  [roll]

My PSS is in .308.  Haven't had any issues but will check it out thoroughly.

I like the 3 position safety that's on my Model 70.  Superior product imo.

Ok, how the make the beast with two backs are people getting killed. That would mean
The gun was pointed at someone, why in gods name is that happening.  [bang]

Remington has recently offered another safety option that I believe incorporates a firing pin block.

They still offer the original design also.

Yeah, there is a mechanical problem but I have to agree with you. WTF? That's why I know my rifle was not being pointed in an unsafe direction with my brother around. His boys damn sure know better because of him and me! But you also know that even if some duffus caps a round into friend or family member and they find out there is a potential gun problem they will always sue the maker. "Yeah sure, I was pointing at my buddy in the blind but it just went off. Wasn't my fault!" Can't cure stupid. But still, why has the problem even existed this long. Why has Remington even given yahoos a chance to AD a 700 all these years?

Well I have only ever used the internal mag built into the gun. I don't know why you would need anything else

Me neither. Of course my only Rem 700s were a .308 PSS that I sold to a friend and the current .223 PSS. No detachable magazines on my rifles. Maybe that's why it says .270 and .30-06. And the only .30-06 I have is a Garand and my Dad's pre-64 Winchester model 70... no detachable mag either.

I know Charlie at cdnn in Abilene, maybe I'll call him and ask.

I guess it's possible that it is the internal mag, to be used for damage repair. (?)

5 or 10 rounds vs 3 (308).  Easier reloading.
