I'm not sure why, but there is a huge blackhole of people willing to share their custom PC3 maps for their monsters on the web (not even just here)

I know that getting my bike dyno-tuned is the best solution, but surely other people have similar setups (arrow high mount exhuasts and open airbox mod with K&N filter on a m800s ie) at near sea level that would work better than the map on the dynojet sight that i'm currently running.

Anybody with a similar set up want to help me out and email or post your custom map?

Thanks in advance :)

Well... if you want one for a similarly set up 900 you could have mine. But might be more trouble than it's worth as it's a different displacement and a couple other differences
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

I'm finding the same frustration with my Powercommander 5 and M696...

I should have looked into it a little more, but I kind of expected them to have a variety of maps and support available for download... I realize that a person should custom dial them on a dyno to your specific bike and mods but they could at least give a person a few base starting points (ie. straight through exhaust with aftermarket high flow air filter etc..). If anyone finds a wealth of Powercommander maps please post them up...

thanks yuu!  but i'll pass on different setup, the map i have at least is close to what i own... only difference being the ferraci air box and different altitude.

i think different engine displacement and mods would probably make it run worse... what year 900 do you have and what mods?  maybe it would be kinda close...

Yuu, if you are feeling generous, I will give your map a shot.  I have 2000 M900Sie with Termi slip-ons and a K&N (but no engine mods).  Had a shop in LA do a custom map for me a while back and it was garbage, so I went back to the stock on the advice of a tuner I trust.

Shoot me a PM with your email. I've got the map on a lappy that belongs to work, so I'll get it out after the holiday.

i'd give it a shot... what's the worst that could happen? :)

seriously, can anything bad happen?  other than not running right, and then i'd just reload the map that's on there...

nomadwarmachine

I would guess that BOOM is the worst that can happen.

leungevity

fair enough... a boom would be pretty bad...

is that likely to happen? i mean they're both fuel injected... one just has a little more displacement... i guess i should look to see injector size etc. before trying this...

Having personally ridden a bike when the motor went BOOM, I can say that it is very unpleasant (and is generally followed by additional unpleasantness when you have to source a motor, rebuild your bike, etc).  A lean condition should be your greatest concern, as that can hole your piston and generally wreck $hit.

Depending on displacement, injectors, pipes, airbox, etc, the maps can vary dramatically.  I had the map from the "shop" on my PC3 for some time and it ran like absolute garbage (mind you, this was supposedly a custom map FOR MY BIKE, so it should not have been that far off).  When the guys at Desmoto in SF plugged in the stock ECU again, it ran like a dream.  Big difference, though I think I am a little lean right now, especially around 4K rpm.

In the short term, probably nothing bad would happen as it'd run like crap and you'll swap back. I pulled a different map from the PowerCommander site, that in theory should have worked decently. But it was ratehr lean at 4-5k and would cause the bike to shudder surge at constant throttle. So the bike spent about 5 miles of test ride with that map before it went bye bye.

My map will probably cause your bike to run like poo - and I'd bet it'll be quite rich. But that's just pure speculation.

......

I paid either $250 or $350 for my custom advance map.  Most people that have a good map probably paid about the same.  I think that is why you won't see a lot of maps just out there for free.

I used to use the open air box arrow map on my bike.  When I had my custom map done the shop showed me the before and after of the fuel numbers.  The arrow map was waaaay off compared to what my bike needed.

I would happily post my old map with a disclaimer that it will make your bike go BOOM.

leungevity

hmm... ok, nvm, i guess i won't bother trying that map, thanks anyway Yuu.

I know what it costs to get your custom map done, but whats the difference?  you still have a custom map that works great for your bike... it won't necessarily make mine or anybody elses work great.

I'm not sure why there isn't more "community" for this sort of thing.  maybe it's because it's an exclusive Italian thing.

would it be better to post that I'd be willing to pay for somebody else's custom map?
