Updated: Got my bike, with pics :) Got my VIN!!!

After much waiting (and more than a few hoops), I finally have a VIN and an ETA for the arrival of my M696  It should be red (short version...originally ordered white with ABS...no more available.  A red non-ABS showed up by mistake at my dealers and they worked tirelessly to convince Ducati NA to allow them to sell it.  No dice, so ordered a white non-ABS....which brings me to the 'should be red')!  Also ordered the Mach 1 skins and CF termis.  Fingers crossed, but it looks like my new bike will be here in just a couple weeks!!  Pics when the bike arrives

All the available ones were already sent (or assigned to be sent) to other dealers, with no more 2010 696 ABS models in the warehouse for special orders.  Since my dealership (I'm in Alaska) didn't have any assigned, I was SOL for the ABS, unless I wanted to get the bigger bike or wait until the new model year (or 796) was available...

I'm surprised they couldn't trade with another dealer. I guess it's not that easy when you're not really close to much civilization. Still, that sucks. No ABS is a deal breaker for me. I ordered a 796 with ABS which I hope to get in about a month.

Yeah, if I didn't live in the boonies, trading with another dealer would definitely have been an option   I'm a wee bit nervous about the lack of ABS (my other bike does have ABS), but I've been working on that by switching the ABS off on my current bike and practicing e-stops in the neighborhood, and that's helping my confidence nicely.  Ooooh Have fun with your 796 when it arrives

I know what your excitement is like. I just got my non ABS 696 after a month wait. I wasn't interested in ABS at additional cost, never ridden a bike with ABS anyway so I'm not missing anything. Stay patient, it will be worth it when you get it!

I just realized that on the email with the VIN number was the UPS tracking number for my bike     Now I can track its progress across the country until it arrives.  I wonder if my dealership would find it odd that I just 'happened to show up' right when the crate is delivered?

I got the call I've been waiting months for on Thursday - my Monster had arrived and was ready for pickup.  Course, I'd been tracking it with UPS and knew it had arrived      We went in to Anchorage today to bring the beast home (husband rode it home, ostensibly to 'scrub in the tires' for me, but in reality because he knew it was about his only chance to ride it)...here are some pics!

It followed me home...can I keep it???
