That is great.  I once heard the marketing VP, at the time HD turned around in the early eighties, talk about how they recognized that what they were selling was the lifestyle.  So it does not surprise me to see it in an manual.

Excerpts transcribed for the benefit of RAT900 editing...

"Stop half way though the ride at the busiest convenience store or any location with a lot of walk-in and out traffic to get water. Let the customer be seen with the bike. Someone is likely to walk by and say 'Nice bike.' sealing the customers emotional attachment to the bike"

"Create routes that give the rider more opportunities to be seen. A huge part of the experience is the attention a rider receives on a genuine Harley Davidson"
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

They messed it up. Isn't that a Ducati booklet? My bad. If it was Ducati it would say that they needed to sell them the Ducati branded wine.  [wine]

And the fashion shows, and WDW, and the bike washes, and the track side experience, and ...

It reminds me of a Triumph test ride I took when the trailer was in town.

All the bike manufacturers are trying to sell the "lifestyle" since they found that it sells better than bikes.

+1

It's far, far better to sell a lifestyle / movement / passion / soul / etc. than just a product.

From the makers of the Desmosedici and the 1198R comes the newest generation Snuggie.

Check out this hilarity.

When I bought my bike after YEARS of searching and test riding everything on the market I was of course satisfied because I had what I wanted. A friend I have known for nearly 20 years and three of the people I work with said "if I wanted a twin cylinder I should have bought a HD." They told me the bike was ugly and sounded crappy.

All I said was (paraphrased) "when I was looking for a bike I wanted something that was light, fast and could carve turns, Not a big, slow, heavy, and cumbersome couch on wheels with loud exhaust."

From my experiences just about every HD rider I have met was arrogant and thought they were the SHIT because they were riding a HD. I am usually a very accepting person but when you go out of your way to tell me my bike is crap and your couch that can't turn is better, that crosses the line.

It's strange because guys on victory's and any jap bike are always interested in my bike and asking questions, as am I about theirs, but NOT the harley guys. They are too tough.
Is this thing on?

I will take one if it comes in Italian Racing Red with carbon fiber upgraded parts.  Oh, and it has to have a huge Ducati Corse logo.

As far as HD, I would consider owning a VRod.  That's about the only one that I *really* like.  Most VRod owners are more sport bike crowd types it seems from those I have encountered ~

Then it would have said to stop at any Starbuck's in SoCal to get a latte.  Most likely there will be others on Ducatis there to compliment you on your bike...   [laugh]

I find it disturbing that you're imagining me in a sauna, never mind the teletubbie aspect of it

"Harley Davidsons are BAD.   I have a Harley Davidson.   That makes me BAD!"

Of course, there is no attitude about Ducatis among the owners now, is there?
