2006 749 dark. 3k miles. Asking $6400. Bike is in NJ. Seller seems pretty straight up, but I prefer to close the deal in person or through a trusted emissary. I won't be able to go there anytime soon, so if anyone on this forum is heading up that way and can check it out, please pm me. Thanks for the advice, everyone!

To be honest, the *retail* for this bike in excellent condition according to Kelly Blue Book is 6370.00  so this really isn't a deal - especially if you've got to travel to get it. If he could be talked down a grand or so... (the trade-in is $4460 so he'd be getting in the middle). Now maybe of he's got crazy good extras with it, but exhaust, etc. really don't add to the value of a bike (when you're buying anyways Smiley)

My personal feeling is skip the 74X line and get a 99* - more power and torque. There's a nice '99 996 (before things went fugly) on CL for 6500.

for another grand...you can get Gene's VERY WELL CARED FOR and VERY well known S2R1K that has more bits on it and is every bit of awesome and then some over this bike IMHO...

Gene's bike is on my short list as well.  Would rather keep the cash in the DMF family just had to investigate. waytogo. Trying to decide between an S2R1K or an S4R......

I hear the sound emitted by those pipes brings even the strongest of men to their knees.

Gene-  what are the forks/shock sprung for?

I would defer to others about the sound, I think they sound great, someone sent me a sound clip last year with me accelerating on front straight of VIR, with the baffles in, sounded pretty damn good to me. With the baffles out 2 years ago at Mid Atlantic Moto Fest it was measured at 117db, last year only 115db, I leave the baffles in, it actually performs better.
Front shocks have been treated with Race Tech Gold Valve and set for me at ~200lbs, previously before I quit smoking it was 190lbs.  BTW those pipes have been polished and treated to have a nice golden hew to them, little trick I picked up from someone, not sure it shows in the pictures. - Gene

This is worth it just as an extra set of bodywork:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1988-ducati-paso-limited-parts-restore-/120953325107?pt=US_motorcycles&hash=item1c29614633

Selling off the other parts would be gravy.

A nice Paso still makes me weak in the knees. I had pics of a Paso and 750F1 in my locker in HS and I still love the looks of both.  There were two clean Pasos (IIRC a 907ie and a 750) @ Battley's a couple of weekends back when they had the Italian bike/car show. Gorgeous. drool

The body parts are indeed worth it but they are only good for the limited version, would be ashame to use them for any other version, since it would require a re-paint. The Paso 907 you saw at Battleys belongs to Mario Patuto. He and I ride  together quite often, the bikes are great IMHO. - Gene
