So I'm looking to buy an electric impact wrench for the joyous task of removing the rear wheel and the 1000ft/lb of torque at which is screwed on.

I read the Kawasaki impact wrench can do the job:

Any feedback on this model or others that you've used with good results?

I don't have an air-compressor so I am ruling out any air-guns.

220 should be more than enough.

if u look into other options, wall plug in is the only way to go.

i have a cheap campbell hausfeled 250lb one and it takes that nut of with ease.

[roll]  My $900 MacTools 3/4 drive air impact won't put out 1000 ftlbs.

The best electric probably puts out around 185 ftlbs. No matter what they say it's rated at.  110 volt plug in.

...

Ha...I was joking about the rear nut being torqued to 1000ftlbs...it sure feels that way but I know that is not the case  ;)

I bought a cheapish 320Nm electric Ozito impact wrench from my local hardware store.  Spins it off like your 1000ftlbs was finger tightened by your Granny  [thumbsup].

I have that exact impact wrench (got it for the same reason).
Well built, works like a charm, highly recommended.
You will think back to those times when you and two friends stood on a four foot breaker bar and want to kick yourself!
BTW, you will need to also buy an impact socket to fit the massive wheel nut.

you'll also need a 3/4 male to 1/2 female.

1/2 female? That a shim?  ;D

I am a cheap bastard.  Bought a $50 1/2 impact wrench from Harbour Freight.  Taking off the rear wheel nut was a breeze.  I also used the impact wrench to put it back on and then torqued to spec.

I have the same one and have used it for about 5 years now.  It easily makes 200-225 ft lbs, which I've confirmed.  I have a bunch of air tools too, but until I get one of those permanent tanks installed, I always pull out the electric one.

I only ever use the impact wrench as a removal tool, never as a nut putter-onerer.

Im going to be guilty of doing this, but i run it on low pressure and stop before it even begins to get tighten. It would be just enough to get most of the screw in, then i swtich to hand tools to tigthen it and torque it.
