For example the multi1200's beak may not look the best but that thing actually adds a good amount of horsepower!  And i'm sure it has grown on a lot of people here.

I still don't like the beak...and if it adds horsepower I'll paint my BSTs pink.

It's still buy a flounder a drink month

Oh my my my - now we have a research project. Don't underestimate the power of motivated nerds... pink BSTs for Statler in 2012!
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

I'm with Statler (except I don't have BST's).

The MTS beak isn't part of the ram air system, it just routes air flow over the oil cooler. Not sure how that creates horsepower.

Slide Panda

Creates... hmm Helps preserve. Keeping the engine temp regulated to it's optimum lets it perform at it's peak... so yes, obviously the beak makes more horsepower! Right! Pink wheels it is.

Statler - I'll be up near your place a week from today - I'll bring my stands and tools to help you disassemble  ;D

a few virtual mods -- 2in lowered rear suspension (who knows what the underseat / seat rail setup is for clearance?); shorter bars (thus riders upper body pulled forward slightly); no mirrors (use barends); lowered rear license plate holder (will it retrofit to other Ducati's?)

I wish I had more time to play with -- I have lots of ideas for aftermarket parts for this (besides just exhaust systems)

Raux

either that rider is in the middle of some serious braking or there is very little front fork travel and clearance.

the headlight look like the 696 glass with a new cover/frame.

love the front vertical cyl. exhaust routing. the shield looks like a Monster take off as well

i can't see where the pillion pegs would be with that exhaust though.

would look better with a single large can instead of those two

looking at the rear, think there's going to be a plastic fender out the back as they have to cover the wheel to make it road legal

definitely another half trellis half cast frame though.

and kinda looks like a new wet clutch cover as well.

passenger grab handles ? don't see anything possible so again i'm thinking there's going to be more to the production rear end

I equate it to Porche making their SUV and 4 door.  It's just not right (for the image that I have in MY OWN head.)

They know the market better than I do
He man, where are all the ads?

the SUV.. eh.. until you get the Turbo it's just another SUV..

but that 4door.. those are DAMN sexy. they even have a split rear wing  that rises up at speed. oh man i NEED one of those cars.   [drool]

I was with you on the 4-door Porsche until I drove the car.  It is a drivers car and does not feel like a sedan.  You feel the road just like you do in a 911 and it corners like you're on rails.  Go test drive a Porsche Panamera Turbo and you will agree that it is 100% Porsche.

I am sure that this cruiser is going to feel more like a race bike than an ol' mans cruiser.    [thumbsup]

It's not my thing... but one day I may be wishing for such a bike.

As for looks everyone needs to really stop judging the thing until official shots are shown.

I agree to a point but is it too late for a few refinements?

May I suggest Ducati are actually hoping for a bit of comment before the official photos.
Believe post content at your own risk.

Raux

i would suspect most of their first production year is set.

but wasn't there a lot of backlash about the 696 when it first leaked about the silver subframe that ended up being black?

so i would think there is some 'opinion' searching going on within the Ducati communities

M1100

my opinion is BUILD IT...  8)

some say it is a done deal, but you know how that goes.

It's a light weight, sexy cool, cruiser with good ergo's that appears to be in the same market space as the Harley nightrod which is brute force cool, heavy, and has awful fuxing ergo's. I'd take the duc anyway of the week over the nightrod, and I really like the nightrod. I think that this would be a good move for ducati to step into a new customer base.

No, that is what the side-mounted radiator does: gives that snub-nosed look while leaving space centrally for the wheel to move back and up. Kind of an anti-chopper.  [laugh] There is plenty of clearance to the front cylinder head.

Tho I'll admit, space under the headlight looks tight.

If the weight is reasonable and the clutch is good, this thing could be seriously quick off the line with that long swingarm. If it can get grip, not out of the question that it could out-drag the Superbikes.

Edit: Looking a bit closer, seems like the rider is indeed braking.
