The 848 dark almost had me rethinking getting a new car until I talked myself some sense. Damn you Ducati. Now I have to re-talk myself out of a new bike.

Love the dark.  It's a great scheme.  A red frame would really pop, but would take away from its stealth look.

I like the idea of adding a red frame, i think it would be an "eclipsical" contrast. Like day and night. If Ducati did that i would instantly part ways with half my family jewels and a kidney :o.

I wonder why they didn't release it as a real track bike; i.e. no head/tail lights, dark body panels (ready to be painted) with a gold frame (too difficult to paint yourself).

Probably because they wanted to make money.  Releasing a track only bike doesn't seem like a great idea from a financial point of view.
