RIP my brother.

Stevie Ray Vaughan Little Wing

I love the way he ends that with Third Stone From The Sun!! Cool shit!! [thumbsup]

Big fan of Eric Johnson too (thankfully still alive!) and we used to see him in the mid 70s for a buck at the UT/Austin Student Union auditurium when he was in the Electromagnets (still have their one and only LP). He did a make the beast with two backsing awesome version of Third Stone. Not bad for a local teenager at the time!! Seeing the vid of SRV made me think of those great one dollar shows. Saw some awesome music in Austin in the 70s... or at least what I can remember of it!! [laugh]

Wow.  What a day...I remember weeping almost uncontrollably off and on for a day or two when I found out.  My first guitar hero, and the guy I discovered the blues through.

Just tragic, but he blessed us with much wonderful music, and I feel fortunate to have seen him live several times.

To see this man live was something to behold.  [bow_down]

Stevie Ray Vaughan(SRV)-Life Without You

Having this song on constant rotation would not be an issue.  Particularly the live version after he got clean.

Unfortunately, I was never able to see SRV live.  Really, really bummed about that.  I don't recall him touring in Michigan much, and I was only 19 when he passed, so my musical horizons weren't as wide as they are today.  I nearly went to see him and Clapton a week or so before his passing in Ann Arbor, but I couldn't find any friends who could go to the show with me.  [bang]

Keep sending the good vibes down, Stevie!

Used to see SRV at Antone's in Austin when I lived there in the day. Wish I had his Austin City Limits performances on DVD. Just sent a "20 year notice" email to my friends last night. I'll be listening to my well worn CDs today for sure!! One of my all time favorite musicians... ever!

Sept. 18 will be the 40th anniversary of Jimi Hendrix's death. My other fav!! [thumbsup] [bow_down]

Lucky you.  The "Live From Austin, Texas" DVD is great.  Awesome to see both shows, from '83 and '89 and see the differences in his performance.  Both are amazing shows.

Do you happen to have the SRV box set?  It has a DVD with 5 songs from the '89 Austin City Limits show that weren't broadcast, including this one:

STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN - Look At Little Sister 1989 (a string breaks)

I never had the chance to see him either and that's a damn shame.

I missed that show but I am also lucky to have seen Jeff Beck a few times on his own. In fact giving me tickets to one of his Dallas shows years ago was the last nice thing my first wife did before we split up. Kinda went down hill from there! [laugh] Hey, but the Beck show rocked!! [thumbsup]

Great memories of Stevie Ray. Good times and awesome music. He and his brother make Oak Cliff here in Dallas proud. Legendary stuff. [bow_down] Good he got cleaned up before he left us. He went on a good vibe. Nice. [clap]
