A 620 valve adjustment question

I have a 620 that I did the 6k service @ 6444 plus belts on last summer. It is now time to do it all over again I'm just about to 13k. But here is my problem or question. I have a 2500 mile trip planned in a week and a half.

I was going to do the service last weekend But I crashed on my mtn bike going of a big drop and separated my shoulder on Labor Day and it has made it hard for me to prep the bike the way I wanted to.

My two questions are first I remember hearing that for the 695s they moved the service to 7500. Did they change anything with the valve when the changed this service interval? My second question is if I know the belt is good has anyone seen any damage caused by valves being a little loose for say 2k over the recommended service. I don't think they will be very far off since I did them a year ago.

Thanks for your time. As a side note I will do all of the safe checks needed before a trip like this. I did a chain and sprockets a month ago, I got help pulling the wheels last week for some new road2 rubber and will do an oil change and all the other safe checks needed. I'm just not sure if I can skip the valves till I get back.

+1.  Don't worry about it, especially since you did your belts already.  The clearances are most likely to be off at your 6k anyway.  There's a good chance you won't change out a shim at your 12k.

i've run mine going over 8k between intervals and the when they were done at 8500 miles between the mechanic said everything was good and only needed some shims changed but nothing that wouldn't have been done at 7500miles.

good luck.

paid mechanic to do 12k service and they didn't need adjustment, doing it myself next time.  [bang]

You should be fine.  Have a good ride.

Have a peek at your belt tension.

Check you oil & chain tension, ride it like you stole it.

WOW! thanks for the replies. I just got time to check this post again. That was kind of what I was thinking, with new chain and sprockets, new tires, oil change and some time spent making sure every thing was torqued to spec, chain maintenance and brakes / fluid check I shouldn't have anything to worry about. I like the idea of pulling to cover to check the belt tension I might add that to my list. I may also get a new set of plugs to have.

Here are my notes from my 6K they might be helpful to someone thinking about doing the service.

My shoulder is healing up and I'm hoping to get a couple test miles in next week before the trip. We are planning on riding from CT to the area around the dragon via the BRP and any other cool roads we can find.

Thanks again for the advice.

Speaking of, what is that?  It looks pretty sleek.  Better shots?

Last photo is from a ADVrider tag I think it was the nutmeg TOR.

It is a dart screen and I have been very happy with it.

I've YET to change a shim on my M750, I picked up it at 14,000 miles and it currently is nearing its 36,000 mile service.
